in this module, we're gonna look at support and documentation.
So what sort of support does Checkpoint
provide for customers?
Perhaps you have an appliance that's having some sort of hardware issue or
having a question or an issue about the product.
Where do you go to get help?
We'll also look at the documentation resource is that are available for customers, including comprehensive technical documentation and how to guides
that you can download in pdf form or that are available via your Web browser
and also community based support.
So we'll look at user center, which is the checkpoint website for customers.
Look at documentation the checkpoint makes available.
We'll get check mates, which is, Ah, community of checkpoint employees,
and others who are very knowledgeable about the product.
It will also demonstrate where you find this
the user center. This is checkpoints support site for customers,
and you can get there by going to checkpoint dot com and clicking on support. But you can also just browse directly there at Https Support center dot checkpoint dot com
and in user center, you find secure knowledge, which is an online collection of technical articles about the checkpoint product line.
For instance, when a new version of checkpoint software is released,
a announcement article will be created on secure knowledge that thoroughly documents what's new in this new release.
What issues from previous releases have been fixed,
and are there any outstanding issues in this new release?
Downloads are available.
For instance, new versions of the checkpoint software or
patches hot fixes to the software
tools, for instance, to assist with automating installations of the product.
There's a licensing portal, which allows you to search
your licenses, view the details of licenses, signed licenses to AH, different checkpoint hosts, extend licenses and so on.
You can create and view the status of service requests.
For instance, if you are having an appliance that
has AH, hardware issue
or if you're experiencing a bug with software
or if you need assistance with licensing or with your user center access,
you can subscribe to articles and be
informed by email. When those articles are updated.
You can also just subscribe to keywords and be informed by email.
When a new article that
mentions that keyword
documentation is available
including browser based documentation, as well as
PDF documentation that could be downloaded and available offline,
that explained how to install, configure, manage, monitor
various aspects of the product
perversion Release notes that
document What's new in the release. What
as well as known issues with this release. Their troubleshooting guides
step by step instructions for identifying the root cause of a specific problem and then addressing that issue,
as well as technical white papers that
provide documentation and and guidance on how to solve a specific problem. For instance, implement multi factor authentication for
for user authentication,

brings together checkpoint employees, checkpoint partners and customers,
or discussions and sharing of information.

Discussions of how best to use a particular feature
What some, uh, issues to look out for might be when trying to do
something with the product.
Documentation is often posted to check mates, including Here is an announcement of a new release or new features,

explain how to do something.
There are contributed code samples, scripts, for instance, to automate a task or two
somehow improve the output of, say, a troubleshooting command.
Most of the content on check mates is freely available, but some of it requires that you authenticate,
and he would use your user center credentials.
articles written by checkpoint employees that focus on a specific component or specific concept relating to checkpoint
Checkpoint for beginners
an introduction to various aspects of the product,
aimed towards those that are new to checkpoint, so it is an excellent next step. After this jump start training,
you may also wish to earn checkpoint certifications, bypassing the
checkpoint, certified security administrator certification and checkpoints. Certified security expert certification. Both focus
mostly on the management server. Firewall parts, the checkpoint product line.
specialist certifications, one focusing on the application programming interface, which you can use in production, automate tasks,
and others such as cloud security certifications,
scalable platform certifications, endpoint security certifications.
Now Ah, quick demonstration of support and documentation. Resource is
over on the very right where it says support slash services
don't browse directly to support center dot checkpoint dot com.
You find yourself in user center. You can get to the support side by clicking support services
and here in the support center.
Ah, lot of the content
requires that you have an account
in user center, which you can create just for asking. It's best if you use your official work email address,
and this is where you can access secure knowledge.
So, for instance, I type in a query term
about, um, clustering, high availability
Now I can filter the search to narrow down the results.
So, for instance, I can focus in on a specific version of the checkpoint software.
And there were 138 results in the Secure Knowledge database that were returned,
including the product page, which has
leaks to knowledge based articles, downloads, documentation and so on
for this particular piece of the checkpoint product, which its full name is advanced networking and clustering software blade.
There are also some relevant downloads that were identified,
and these air mostly
the checkpoint software for management servers, the checkpoint software for firewalls
because clustering is, ah, firewall function
There is documentation for the specific versions of the checkpoint software. So if you're running, say are 80.30 then you would want to use the R 80.30 version of the documentation.
So, for instance, this Cluster Excel administration guide
this is very specifically
focused on, say, the are 80.30 version
of this piece of the checkpoint product line.
by clicking on that link, I bring up the Web based documentation.
But you can also download a PdF version of this document so you have it for offline access.
Perhaps you're doing firewall maintenance. That's why you need this administration guide. But during the firewall maintenance period, you may not have Internet connectivity, so download the pdf version beforehand.
Other things that are available here
I'm having an appliance with some sort of hardware issue, or I'm having what I think might be a software issue with some part of the checkpoint product.
And the service requests that I can make
based on the the account in
user center that I'm using,
depending on your level of support with Checkpoint there may be additional
functionality displayed here.
It's saying, for instance, that I need a valid user center account. I do actually have a user senator counting logged into it, but it's not associated with any checkpoint customer.
And so there's no entitlement for support issues.
But even without being associate ID as a checkpoint customer, I can, for instance,
report that your URL filtering product is mis categorizing a website or
I need assistance with licensing or I need assistance. With my user center access,
I can create a non technical service request for that.
I'm not gonna actually create and submit a service request, so instead I'll just go back in my history
and return to the search results. It automatically returns to the last search that you did in this session.
Next, I want to talk a little bit about the social site Check mates.
Checkpoint Check Mates is
where checkpoint employees including software developers, product managers, technical experts and and mawr
participate, but also a lot of the content. A lot of the really good content
comes from Checkpoint Customers Checkpoint Partners,
so there's a lot of stuff available in check mates for all sorts of the checkpoint product line.
So this checkpoint for beginners has a lot of content,
and most of the content
includes a video demonstration of the subject matter,
and you can see that there's just a
wide variety of content available.
So that's all I had to demonstrate,
though in this module we looked at the various support and documentation resource is that are available to checkpoint customers such as User Center, which provides access to secure knowledge,
a large collection of technical articles and how twos and other documentation on the checkpoint Product Line
User Center also provides downloads for new versions of the software.
We looked at the documentation that you can access
then the social site Check Mates, which is still a checkpoint website. But
a lot of the activity. A lot of the good information on check mates
doesn't originate from a checkpoint employees, it's
user community who contribute,
and we demonstrated this
