>> Hey, everybody and welcome back to this lesson.
00:00
In this lesson, we're going to be setting
00:00
up our AWS account.
00:00
The learning objectives are going to need to
00:00
understand how to set up
00:00
the account. We're going to walk through it.
00:00
You'll get to see me do it
00:00
hands-on and then you could do it yourself if you'd like.
00:00
We're also going to be summarizing
00:00
the various support plans out there.
00:00
But for this course,
00:00
just so that you're aware,
00:00
we're going to be working with the free support plan.
00:00
You do not need to upgrade it,
00:00
but we will cover the options that are out there
00:00
for you and distinguish
00:00
a few of the differences so that you know,
00:00
going into the exam because you
00:00
may see one or two questions on that.
00:00
Now, I just want to quickly
00:00
summarize or preface this by saying
00:00
that you do not need to have
00:00
your own AWS account in
00:00
order for you to take this course,
00:00
and in order for you to pass the exam.
00:00
It is helpful, however, especially,
00:00
if you're a very hands-on learner,
00:00
like I am, having the AWS account was very helpful.
00:00
I could break and fix things on my own,
00:00
and just being hands-on just helps
00:00
commit the topics that we're learning to memory.
00:00
Now, if you are not wanting to
00:00
open up your own account, I understand.
00:00
We have a lot of labs in this course,
00:00
which you can leverage to do
00:00
the very same thing as far as hands-on.
00:00
Setting it all up,
00:00
and breaking and fixing
00:00
and troubleshooting, and all that good stuff,
00:00
but the AWS account
00:00
setting up process is something that I recommend doing.
00:00
I think starting from the ground up
00:00
gives a holistic idea on
00:00
how to tackle certification
00:00
like this because this is a good one.
00:00
It's going to have it's challenges and
00:00
just starting from the very beginning
00:00
can sometimes help with that.
00:00
Now, I do want to also give you
00:00
a quick warning that setting up
00:00
your own account is free. That's not the warning.
00:00
The warning is that, when you
00:00
start using services in AWS,
00:00
you may incur a slight cost.
00:00
Typically, what I see for
00:00
students that are going out to the entire course,
00:00
and they finished, they might end up with like
00:00
a charge on their credit card for about $10.
00:00
Not a huge cost,
00:00
but just something that I
00:00
wanted to make sure that you are
00:00
aware of before you sign up and follow this process.
00:00
That being said, if you do not
00:00
want to set up your own AWS account,
00:00
feel free to skip this lesson
00:00
and move on to the next one.
00:00
But if you do,
00:00
then let's go ahead and dive right in.
00:00
I'm in my browser here,
00:00
and if you navigate over to aws.amazon.com,
00:00
or you simply just type an AWS
00:00
into Google or whatever search browser if you use,
00:00
it should take you to this page,
00:00
on the first page.
00:00
This is just the homepage. This is just introduction,
00:00
some marketing, some services, lots of good stuff.
00:00
But we're going to go ahead and get right to
00:00
the chase and we want to create an account.
00:00
As you can see here, this is the sign-up page.
00:00
I'm going to go ahead and sign up.
00:00
Here, we're going to have to go through
00:00
the contact information.
00:00
So I'm going to fill out this information,
00:00
but we're going to go ahead and jump
00:00
ahead to the next scene.
00:00
You don't have to see my information.
00:00
If you're following along,
00:00
be sure to answer in your own information.
00:00
We'll pick up in the next phase.
00:00
Now, that we've gone ahead and entered in
00:00
all our personal information,
00:00
we got to set up some billing info.
00:00
Like I said, you're going
00:00
to incur some costs, not a whole lot.
00:00
You are going to be a free tier for
00:00
the majority of the services
00:00
that we're going to be covering,
00:00
but you may rack up maybe
00:00
a dollar worth of costs that you may have to pay.
00:00
It's totally up to you if you want to continue on.
00:00
I'm going to go ahead and fill this information out.
00:00
Feel free to move forward if you'd like.
00:00
Again, you don't have to for this course.
00:00
We do have labs.
00:00
That's part of your subscription here on Cybrary.
00:00
You can leverage those labs if you like.
00:00
I'm going to go ahead and fill this out
00:00
and I will see you in the next scene.
00:00
The next phase here is us confirming our identities.
00:00
You're going to want to enter in
00:00
your phone number and AWS is either
00:00
going to send you
00:00
a text message or a voice call with a short digit,
00:00
like six-digit number or something like that.
00:00
You're going to enter that into
00:00
this next phase of the confirmation,
00:00
and that should confirm your identity.
00:00
Then we're going to go ahead
00:00
and move on to the next phase.
00:00
As promised, we're going to go ahead
00:00
and select our support plan.
00:00
For this course,
00:00
we're just going to leave it as basic support,
00:00
which is you're going to get
00:00
recommended a new user support.
00:00
You're going to get 24-by-7 self-service access
00:00
to AWS resources.
00:00
Let's see here four counts and billing issues only.
00:00
You can't access them and I have done this before.
00:00
You can access the support team at AWS.
00:00
If you're having some issues with your billing,
00:00
they'll help you out there and then access
00:00
your personal health dashboard and trusted advisors.
00:00
You do have access to those things as well.
00:00
If you want to up
00:00
your ante here if you want to up your support plan,
00:00
you have the ability to go ahead
00:00
and select developer support
00:00
or business support if you like.
00:00
If you want that enterprise,
00:00
you're going to have to contact them,
00:00
and you can talk shop
00:00
and figure out the details
00:00
there on what that's going to cost.
00:00
But typically, these are the ones
00:00
that we're going to be selecting.
00:00
For this course, like I said, let's leave it as free.
00:00
No need to accrue any extra costs.
00:00
We'll go ahead and complete the sign-up.
00:00
We have setup our AWS account.
00:00
Now, we should be able to go ahead
00:00
and go to the AWS management console.
00:00
We're going to go ahead and log in to that.
00:00
I'm going to have to set up a Roots user account.
00:00
I'm going to go ahead and use the same email
00:00
that I use for the AWS account, which is fine.
00:00
I'm sorry, this is not set it up.
00:00
This is actually to sign in.
00:00
We're going to go ahead and sign in.
00:00
Let's go ahead and do that.
00:00
There we go. We are in the AWS management console.
00:00
Now, I just want to do
00:00
a quick tour of the Management Console.
00:00
Notice here, first thing we want to
00:00
notice is that we're in the Ohio region.
00:00
I'm going to actually move this over to
00:00
US East one because this is
00:00
the very first region
00:00
that AWS stood up their services in.
00:00
The majority of the AWS services,
00:00
all these services that you see here,
00:00
these are things that you can build
00:00
with or leverage in some way or another.
00:00
We'll talk a lot more about this later on in the course,
00:00
but all of these services are guaranteed to work,
00:00
or I shouldn't say guaranteed,
00:00
but they are more likely to work because
00:00
they were designed in this Northern Virginia region.
00:00
I say that to say there
00:00
aren't going to be other regions that do
00:00
not allow certain services just
00:00
for security and privacy reasons.
00:00
Like for example, the
00:00
Asia-Pacific region, some European regions,
00:00
they do have restrictions on data privacy
00:00
and their policies are a lot more
00:00
tighter than here in the United States.
00:00
Because of that, you may not see certain services there.
00:00
Another reason you may not see certain services there are
00:00
because of the simple developments
00:00
that needs to take place.
00:00
It's not so simple, but just the simple fact
00:00
that AWS hasn't stood up
00:00
the correct resources in place in
00:00
these other regions to support all of the services.
00:00
You may not see it available in that region
00:00
just yet until they get that all fixed up.
00:00
That being said, I do want to take note here.
00:00
This is our US East region.
00:00
You do have multiple areas you can deploy to.
00:00
Then you do have others here too.
00:00
Just feel free to take a look at that.
00:00
Let's hop over to the services menu.
00:00
Here are all our services and we have computes,
00:00
we have containers, which is also part of compute.
00:00
We have storage, databases,
00:00
migration, and transfer.
00:00
Notice here all things that make it really easy for us.
00:00
Networking and CDN.
00:00
The developer tools,
00:00
lots of good stuff there.
00:00
Media Services.
00:00
We got Kinesis, Media Tailor.
00:00
We have Management and Governance,
00:00
which we're going to be talking about a lot more here.
00:00
Satellite, Quantum Technologies, Robotics.
00:00
As you can see,
00:00
they have a lot of really good stuff.
00:00
Tons of machine learning.
00:00
You're going to have a lot of services available to you.
00:00
Under the hood, it's still the same server,
00:00
but there's a lot of applications that were built by AWS
00:00
that allow you to leverage
00:00
the server and the server resources in different ways.
00:00
At the end of the day,
00:00
you're still dealing with a CPU,
00:00
some RAM, storage,
00:00
and a network,
00:00
but they slice and dice it
00:00
up and layer it in different ways that
00:00
you could do things like
00:00
Amazon Polly or Amazon Rekognition,
00:00
which we'll be talking a lot about more,
00:00
a lot about these services as you
00:00
move along in your studies in AWS.
00:00
Lots of really cool things,
00:00
even AR and VR, look at that.
00:00
You can actually make VR and augmented
00:00
reality games and scenes wherever you want.
00:00
Really cool stuff. That's it.
00:00
We have now walked through
00:00
the entire AWS accounts setup process.
00:00
I hope you've found some helpful tips there in that bit.
00:00
In the process of this lesson,
00:00
we've also covered not only how to set up
00:00
your own account and how
00:00
to explore the console
00:00
and the AWS dashboard, how to log in,
00:00
and difference between Root users and normal users,
00:00
but we've also covered breaking down the support plans,
00:00
which is important because you may see
00:00
one or two questions on
00:00
the exam talking about that very thing.
00:00
Feel free to review this if you need to.
00:00
Also, if you want to walk through this yourself,
00:00
I encourage you to do it.
00:00
But that being said,
00:00
let's go ahead and move on to the next lesson.
