>> Hey everybody, and welcome back.
00:00
In this lecture we're going to be continuing
00:00
our discussion on preparing for this course.
00:00
In this lecture we're going to be
00:00
>> preparing for success,
00:00
>> or covering the objectives that we need
00:00
to review so we're
00:00
successful while we're taking this course.
00:00
Anyways, the learning objectives are going to be
00:00
to break down the AWS exam guide.
00:00
It's the official one that comes from their website.
00:00
We'll be reviewing that.
00:00
We're going to review
00:00
some AWS documentation that's
00:00
necessary for you to review,
00:00
get familiar with before diving into the course.
00:00
Actually during the course is good as well.
00:00
Because as you're learning the services you
00:00
can see how the documentation correlates.
00:00
Then we're going to
00:00
discuss some other domains that are being tested,
00:00
diving a little deeper from our last discussion as well.
00:00
Let's go ahead and dive into the official exam guide.
00:00
What I have here before you is
00:00
the official exam guide that I pulled up.
00:00
Now if you just go to Google,
00:00
and you type in AWS Certified Solution
00:00
Architect Associate exam guide.
00:00
It'll be like one of the first one or
00:00
two search results that show
00:00
up as the PDF attachment that comes from the AWS domain,
00:00
and this is what it is here.
00:00
You can go ahead and check it out.
00:00
It gives you a lot of really helpful information on
00:00
what information is going to be tested on this exam?
00:00
What things you need to do to prepare?
00:00
They talk about here,
00:00
you could take some additional training
00:00
from AWS's website where they
00:00
have not only the course
00:00
that you could pay for for the certification,
00:00
but you can also review other courses on things like
00:00
documentation and various principles
00:00
that they teach and talk about and recommend.
00:00
Here you can check out their whitepapers.
00:00
I'll go ahead and hop over there.
00:00
Here you can see they have all
00:00
these whitepapers and guides.
00:00
You could check it out.
00:00
They have a lot of really cool stuff.
00:00
They have stuff that's specific to your industry.
00:00
If you're in robotics,
00:00
or if you work in medicine,
00:00
and if you work in science.
00:00
They talk about some technical whitepapers
00:00
for technology,
00:00
like databases and architecting for HIPAA compliance.
00:00
Lots of really great stuff.
00:00
If you don't know what a whitepaper is,
00:00
let me go ahead and open one up for you.
00:00
They give you a couple of
00:00
different versions on how you want to check it out.
00:00
But this is essentially a whitepaper.
00:00
There's your abstract,
00:00
which gives you a summary of
00:00
what the whitepaper is about,
00:00
and then it dives into the material.
00:00
Whitepaper is like an educational paper.
00:00
It's like a document that, in college,
00:00
depending on your profession,
00:00
you might write an abstract for a long essay.
00:00
That's basically what a whitepaper is,
00:00
except it's not so tested I guess,
00:00
the result it's so foundational it's more experienced.
00:00
Like this is basically what it is,
00:00
this is what the product is,
00:00
this is what the principles,
00:00
this is what you should do.
00:00
That's what a whitepaper is.
00:00
In this case, for architecting for HIPAA security,
00:00
they're giving you guidance
00:00
on how do you do that with Alexa for business,
00:00
maybe you work in
00:00
the healthcare industry here in the United States,
00:00
and you want to integrate Alexa into your business.
00:00
Having a whitepaper that
00:00
tells you how to do this securely,
00:00
even that's a lot of information,
00:00
but it does give you an idea on
00:00
HIPAA eligible Alexa skills.
00:00
It gives you an outline like, hey,
00:00
you should be using this for
00:00
your business here in the healthcare industry.
00:00
Let's move on to another service,
00:00
so you can see what other things they're talking about.
00:00
That's a whitepaper really on the high level.
00:00
There are a whole lot of them.
00:00
Let's go back to the exam guide.
00:00
[NOISE] If we're back here.
00:00
They have this in all the exam guides.
00:00
But if you're looking to find that link for whitepapers,
00:00
you can find it here in the exam guide.
00:00
Or you could just search it up on Google,
00:00
AWS whitepapers, and you'll find it that way as well.
00:00
It's always a good idea to
00:00
review the whitepapers before you take an exam.
00:00
It gives you some good understanding
00:00
on the big picture from AWS's perspective.
00:00
Anyways, moving on.
00:00
Within the exam guide they have got
00:00
various exam content details,
00:00
so they're confirming what we talked about.
00:00
Which is this exam is going to have
00:00
multiple choice and multiple response.
00:00
They talk about their unscored content.
00:00
Meaning that AWS is
00:00
constantly trying to improve their exams,
00:00
and some of the questions you get,
00:00
a very small amount,
00:00
they're not actually counting towards your score,
00:00
they're actually to test
00:00
the greater population to see
00:00
if the exam question's a good one,
00:00
is it a fair one
00:00
for the level of the certification and all that,
00:00
so pretty good stuff there.
00:00
Here they talk about the exam results.
00:00
You can get a score out of 100-1,000, 720,
00:00
or 72 percent,
00:00
being that a passing score right there.
00:00
Keep that in mind. Here is your exam outline,
00:00
your breakdown which we did cover last time.
00:00
They go into detail on exactly what these topics are.
00:00
You're going to have a link to this
00:00
in the description of this lesson,
00:00
so be sure to check it out,
00:00
get familiar with it, study it for a little bit.
00:00
Just drink cup of coffee, review this,
00:00
it'll be helpful, I promise you.
00:00
Let's go on to the next thing I want to show you here.
00:00
This is the AWS well-architected framework,
00:00
and you might have heard me allude
00:00
to this a few times already.
00:00
This is going to be helpful for
00:00
you especially because this is
00:00
the Solutions Architect Associate Certification.
00:00
If you continue to go down this track and
00:00
get the professional version of this,
00:00
you're going to need to know
00:00
this well-architected framework, inside and out.
00:00
Keep that in mind. This is
00:00
a free resource that you can check out.
00:00
They have a well-architected tool which you
00:00
can leverage to assist you and your Cloud architecture,
00:00
making sure that you're
00:00
doing everything you need to do to stay cost-effective,
00:00
and secure, and all that good stuff.
00:00
If we scroll down here under
00:00
the oops Framework Overview right there.
00:00
I want to click HTML,
00:00
so we can pull up a web page for this.
00:00
Again, this is another whitepaper document.
00:00
There's going to be an abstract which you can read about.
00:00
There's going to be an introduction.
00:00
If we go down here over on the left side,
00:00
you're going to see the pillars of the framework.
00:00
They talk about operational excellence,
00:00
security, reliability.
00:00
These are the laws
00:00
that make up the well-architected framework under AWS.
00:00
They're very popular.
00:00
Once you get familiar with them,
00:00
and you talk to other AWS certified engineers,
00:00
they're more than likely going to
00:00
be familiar with this as well.
00:00
You're going to get some exam questions from this
00:00
basically talking about like
00:00
what answer would reflect
00:00
the operational excellence,
00:00
or what answer would reflect
00:00
the security pillar from the Well-Architected Framework.
00:00
You're getting at a few,
00:00
but really it's a high-level idea.
00:00
You don't need to memorize the whole document,
00:00
you need to understand
00:00
the document. There is a difference.
00:00
Being able to understand it is being able
00:00
to teach it to somebody else,
00:00
to articulate it to somebody else.
00:00
That's not requiring that you memorize it necessarily,
00:00
it just requires that you know,
00:00
the topics that are being discussed,
00:00
and that you can share it
00:00
with somebody else in confidence and be
00:00
able to lead them in the right path to
00:00
go and pursue
00:00
a well-architected Cloud environment as well.
00:00
That's the difference there.
00:00
I do recommend you take a look at this.
00:00
I'll be dropping a link for this in
00:00
your lesson description as well.
00:00
Be sure to take a look.
00:00
I will say this.
00:00
I personally waited to review
00:00
the Well-Architected Framework until I
00:00
finished my course when I was studying.
00:00
I found that to be helpful. I think
00:00
that might be helpful for you as well,
00:00
just because you want to
00:00
get familiar with all the services,
00:00
understand how the services work.
00:00
Then once you get that,
00:00
you can use this to tie it
00:00
all in and see the big picture.
00:00
That's just my recommendation.
00:00
But make sure you review this before you take your exam.
00:00
There's lots of good stuff there.
00:00
This wraps up this lesson.
00:00
In this lesson we reviewed the AWS exam guide,
00:00
and we discussed all the details within it.
00:00
We broke down the domains in further detail.
00:00
Then we reviewed,
00:00
not only the Well-Architected Framework,
00:00
but where you can find other AWS documentation,
00:00
that's going to be super helpful for you.
00:00
Be sure to check all that stuff out.
00:00
Make sure you review
00:00
the Well-Architected Framework at the end of this course.
00:00
Let's go ahead and dive into this course.
00:00
I'll see you in the next lesson.
