hello and welcome to lab number 12.
And this lab will be registering and un registering V EMS
and deleting their files from the storage and also do some exercises with snapshots.
So first, let's get logged into our environment.
So the first thing that we're going to do
is unregistered one of our V EMS,
so I can simply right click,
and there should be an option to have moved from inventory
course. I can't do this while the machine is up and running.
So I do have to, uh,
shut the machine down.
and that makes sense is whether when the VM is up and running, there's there's too much communication going on with
the host and with the center.
So obviously, all that needs to be
stops before we can remove
the virtual machine from the inventory.
If you remember when we talked about the inventory before,
we know that if we rename a virtual machine in the inventory doesn't rename the actual
virtual machine disc or the other configuration files, you have to keep that in mind, especially if you go searching for something in the future.
And the inventory name doesn't match
the name of the files in
in the in the data store.
Okay, so the machines powered off.
Now I can right click and say, removed from inventory.
I have another option here to delete from disk. We don't want to do that just yet,
but I do want to remove from the inventory, so I'll go ahead and say yes
and just just takes a few seconds. And now that machine is no longer
Now, if I remember right,
I believe that she was on.
I believe it was on the
So I'm gonna go ahead and look at my storage
and local Yes, ex Cheers. Where I remember this machine existed. We should have looked at it before we were removed from the inventory. But I'm pretty sure this is where it iss.
And there we have it.
So it's still here. Files didn't go anywhere.
don't have it registered with inventory right now.
So if we would like to re register it, we simply go to the configuration, file the dot BMX
right click and say add to inventory
gives you a chance to change the name.
It's just the inventory name again,
and you can even pick a folder.
We'll just pick the default,
and I'll leave it on host 100.
And as we see a few seconds later, pops right up.
Let's go ahead. And,
Okay, so that one booted up just fine.
I want to get rid of this wing seven clone, too. I don't really want this machine any longer.
So what I can do is first I'm gonna verify where it's day stories,
so I can right click and see delete from disk
gives you my warning to let you know that you will permanently be
two leading these files.
So go ahead and click. Yes.
And now, if I go to browse, this data store should to see that those directories and files are gone
and we no longer see the win seven clone too
pretty easy to d'oh.
In fact, it's a little bit too easy. So we have to make sure when you are removing something from inventory
versus the leading the files that you're that you're positive which action you want to take
could be tempting to just see delete and selected accidentally, so make sure you pay attention to that.
