I welcome back to module three environments set up. This is less than three point to install Oracle Virtual box And this lesson we're gonna take care of a couple of different things. We're also going to install an additional piece of software no pad plus. Plus, this is a Windows on Lee editor.
00:15
If you have to be on Lenox, there are plenty off limits editors that come installed by default. I believe if you're using a boo to, for example, you'll have a G at it available out of the box. And that is pretty much is useful as no pad plus plus in many instances. So in this lesson, we're gonna do
00:34
a couple of things. We're going to check that our host supports virtualization.
00:39
We're then going to install Oracle Virtual Box. And finally we're going to install no pad plus plus.
00:45
With that said, let's go ahead and get started. As you might have noticed, I've installed the view or I have expanded the view of this slide so that we can see the actions I'm taken. So the first thing the first way to check
00:57
is to use the task manager performance tab
01:00
and check for line virtualization enabled.
01:03
So to access the tax manager, the easiest ways to go down to your little bar at the bottom of Windows 10 right Click
01:11
Select Task Manager.
01:15
That'll open this window.
01:18
Then you will go to the performance tab.
01:22
And down here we'll see that we have virtualization enabled. Now, this should indicate that our current host computer is capable off and Stan Shih ating virtual computers.
01:33
Okay, so that's one method done. The other one is to run the system in full command in a terminal. So it's going to do that. I'm just going to type in search
01:44
type in the word command.
01:47
I'm gonna right click this and I'm gonna run it as an administrator. It's always a good idea to run thes command prompts as administrator because sometimes it's required, but not explicitly stated. And you run into permission errors when you don't do that.
02:01
So the command for this is pretty simple. It's just system at food,
02:07
and that's gonna
02:09
run a program that will gather your systems of information or various information on your system. And right here at the bottom is exactly what we're looking for.
02:19
Uh, in the hyper V requirements. We want to see all that. All these yeses
02:24
virtualization enabled in firmware. Yes.
02:28
So again, this is indicating that are set up, should be capable of virtualization.
02:34
So that's done
02:37
now with that said, let's go ahead and start installing our software.
02:44
All right, welcome to my virtual machine. I already have the websites I need to open,
02:50
so we're going to start with virtual box and I have a link available in the spreadsheet. If you would like to check that resource for what link you need to go to, but it's ah pretty short link. Its virtual box dot org's slash wiki slash downloads.
03:04
I'm on a Windows Hope so I'm gonna go ahead and select that link.
03:07
And on this prompt, I'm gonna go ahead and click Save. I used to do run, but I started having issues on a very rare occasion with the run not working, So I always save now
03:17
and that shouldn't take too long. It looks like it already downloaded. It's running the virtual or the security scan, and it's done. I'm gonna open the folder, which opens the downloads section of the File Explorer.
03:30
So on we go ahead and right click on this and select Run as administrator.
03:37
And that's gonna give me these security prompts by user access control. This is why you need that administrative privilege on the host
03:46
so that you can install this software
03:49
and next, next, next?
03:53
Yes, install.
03:55
So for most of the software, we will be perfectly fine just using all the default settings,
04:01
So the escalation will be more or less just clicking next. And okay,
04:06
Interesting thing about this set up is that this is actually going to be a virtual machine running virtual machines. So it's gonna be a virtual machine within a virtual machine for a process known as nested virtualization.
04:19
So once we get to this screen, let's go ahead and click Finish when we go ahead and start after installation
04:28
and you should see this box come up. And this means that virtual box is ready to start hosting virtual machines.
04:34
Someone go ahead and close this
04:38
next. I'm gonna move. Move to note pad plus plus
04:42
and again the links in the slide shows. But the, uh,
04:46
the euro isn't too terrible. It's note pad, dash, plus this plus
04:50
dot org's slash downloads slash the version that we want to download
04:56
and the most recent one that we have available. 771
05:00
So I have a 64 bit machine. I'm gonna go ahead and download the installer for that.
05:05
Again, I'm gonna click. Save
05:11
Opened the folder, which opens the download section of the File Explorer.
05:16
A right click. I'm gonna run it as an administrator.
05:21
Click Yes. Or the security prompts.
05:24
Click OK,
05:26
next. I agree. Next.
05:30
Next,
05:31
install
05:33
and finished with the go ahead and run it after I finish.
05:40
And here's what it looks like. Uh, anything about no pad plus plus is that if you click this language option appear
05:46
there is a multitude of different languages you can set it to interpret so that it will give you syntax highlighting for that type.
05:56
All right,
05:57
so that completes this
06:00
portion of the lesson. We have installed virtual box and we've installed no pad plus plus,
06:08
So that brings us to the insult Oracle virtual box summary. What are the things that we accomplished in this lesson? While we check their host was capable of virtualization and this example, we used a Windows host if you were on Lennox, you would need to use another method to check that the host was capable of virtualization
06:26
again. Most modern hosts are most modern. Computers are capable.
06:30
Next, we installed Oracle virtual box. Following that, we installed note pad plus plus.
06:35
So that completes this lesson, and I hope to see you in the next. Thank you. Bye.
