>> Everyone, let's go ahead and dive into this lesson,
00:00
so you can go ahead and schedule your exam.
00:00
Just to quickly [LAUGHTER] recap
00:00
on what we're doing here.
00:00
The learning objectives for
00:00
this lesson are going to be to
00:00
demonstrate how you can sign up for your AWS exam,
00:00
how quick and easy it is.
00:00
AWS makes it so simple,
00:00
and it's going to be a real breeze.
00:00
I think you'll have your exam scheduled in no time.
00:00
Let's go ahead and jump over to
00:00
my screen and you can watch me do this.
00:00
Here we are. I went to Google,
00:00
and I typed in aws cloud practitioner exam.
00:00
I'm going to go and select this link right here.
00:00
I'm looking for the ad links.
00:00
I want to skip down and just select this one here,
00:00
and it takes me to AWS's homepage
00:00
for the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner.
00:00
I'm going to just double-check.
00:00
This is the badge you will receive when you
00:00
pass your exam, which is really cool.
00:00
You can put that on your LinkedIn
00:00
profile and your resume.
00:00
Let's go ahead and select this orange button
00:00
, "Schedule an exam".
00:00
Once we click that link,
00:00
it takes you to this page,
00:00
which is the aws.training website.
00:00
Now if you just type into your browser,
00:00
aws.training, it'll take you straight here.
00:00
We're going to scroll down and we're going
00:00
to press this button here.
00:00
Sign in to your AWS training and certification account.
00:00
Now you may not have an account, and that's okay.
00:00
We're just going to go ahead and press "SIGN IN" again.
00:00
Once you press that link,
00:00
it's going to take you here to this sign-in page.
00:00
Now you can use
00:00
your Amazon account if you have one, most people do.
00:00
But if you do not have an Amazon account,
00:00
you're going to select this button here
00:00
and walk through this process of setting up your account.
00:00
Once you've done that,
00:00
go ahead and go back and sign in to
00:00
that form for the AWS.testing account.
00:00
Then we're going to actually take a pause here.
00:00
I'm going to login to mine,
00:00
and then we're going to pick up from
00:00
that dashboard. I'll see you there.
00:00
Once you have set up your account and signed in,
00:00
you're going to go and press this "GO TO YOUR ACCOUNT".
00:00
This is going to navigate to certain metrics,
00:00
which is the company that handles all of
00:00
the scheduling and the configurations
00:00
for your exam taking.
00:00
As you can see, I've logged into mine.
00:00
This is a little splash screen,
00:00
so it wants me to go ahead and agree to
00:00
the certification program agreement.
00:00
Let's go ahead and scroll down and accept that, submit.
00:00
If I want to schedule an exam,
00:00
I'm going to navigate over to Upcoming Exams.
00:00
What we're going to do is we're going to, let's see.
00:00
You have two options. You have managed PSI exams,
00:00
and you have managed Pearson VUE exam.
00:00
If you've already scheduled your exams,
00:00
you can manage them here,
00:00
like rescheduling or
00:00
canceling, or whatever you need to do.
00:00
If you need to schedule,
00:00
we're going to select "Schedule Practice Exam
00:00
with PSI" or "Pearson VUE".
00:00
But these are two different vendors,
00:00
and depending on where you are in the world,
00:00
you're going to want to
00:00
check with either one of these vendors
00:00
to make sure that they have a testing
00:00
center that can accommodate you.
00:00
This is for you if you want to take
00:00
this exam in a testing center.
00:00
We're going to go ahead and navigate over
00:00
to here where we can select
00:00
"Manage Pearson VUE Exams" or "Manage PSI Exams".
00:00
If you need to schedule a practice exam,
00:00
you can select either of
00:00
these links and they'll help you out with that.
00:00
But for scheduling your exam,
00:00
you select either one of these.
00:00
Now PSI and Pearson VUE
00:00
are two different testing vendors,
00:00
and depending on where you are in the world
00:00
one or the other may be best to choose
00:00
from because they may have
00:00
testing centers near you if you want to
00:00
take a test at a testing center.
00:00
I know that with Pearson VUE, I think with PSI as well,
00:00
but I know for a fact with Pearson VUE,
00:00
you can take your exam at
00:00
home as well and they'll proctor you.
00:00
I'm going to go and select "Manage my Pearson VUE Exam",
00:00
and it's going to redirect me over to
00:00
Pearson VUE system to schedule.
00:00
Since we're taking the AWS
00:00
Certified Cloud practitioner exam,
00:00
I'm going to select this one. Here we are.
00:00
It says, "Where do you want to take your exam?"
00:00
You can take it at a testing center,
00:00
or you can do it online with OnVUE.
00:00
I'm going to select online.
00:00
It says to prepare for your exam,
00:00
you got to make sure we run a system test,
00:00
we make sure that we're in
00:00
a distraction-free private place to take our exams.
00:00
We want to make sure we have a testing space
00:00
to take it at.
00:00
You're going to need to have
00:00
your photo ID ready for review.
00:00
This is just to make sure that you
00:00
are who you say you are,
00:00
and that you indeed are the person truly
00:00
taking the exam and that you're not
00:00
having somebody else take it for you,
00:00
and you're going to want to make sure that you have
00:00
at least 30 minutes before
00:00
your appointment time for the exam,
00:00
to go through the checks and balances that are necessary.
00:00
You're going to have a proctor confirm
00:00
that you are who you say you are.
00:00
You're going to want to run a test on
00:00
your personal computer to make sure
00:00
you have good connection to the Internet,
00:00
and that your webcam and your mic are working just fine.
00:00
That's what that 30 minutes
00:00
is going to be allocated for,
00:00
plus the proctor has to make
00:00
sure that they do everything on their end to
00:00
secure your computer so
00:00
there's no cheating or anything like that.
00:00
They have a short video that walks you
00:00
through the process that you're
00:00
familiar with what they're
00:00
going to be doing on your system.
00:00
Let's go ahead and select "Next".
00:00
We got to agree to some terms and agreements here,
00:00
so let's go ahead and do that.
00:00
Just saying that you're going to abide by the rules,
00:00
and all is well. Let's agree.
00:00
Now here you get to select your preferred language,
00:00
and they have simplified Chinese,
00:00
they have English, French, German,
00:00
Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean,
00:00
Portuguese, and Brazilian, and then Spanish-modern.
00:00
That's really great. I'm going to select
00:00
English. Lots of good options.
00:00
I like that. Here we go.
00:00
For $100, you're going to be able to schedule your exam,
00:00
which is a really good price.
00:00
Let's go ahead and select "Next".
00:00
Just want to make sure we review our settings.
00:00
What is the language you prefer the proctor speak?
00:00
I prefer that he or she speak English.
00:00
Let's see here. Processing,
00:00
let's just hold on.
00:00
I'm going to close the screen
00:00
or that little window there.
00:00
Now we get to find an appointment,
00:00
and as you can see,
00:00
today is actually August 3rd for me,
00:00
and as I'm recording this,
00:00
[LAUGHTER] and we have
00:00
test dates or test time available today.
00:00
That's great. They have a lot of
00:00
accessibility for finding a time,
00:00
and it looks like, yes,
00:00
I want the 12-hour.
00:00
Look at all these testing times.
00:00
That is great.
00:00
They really do accommodate you.
00:00
It is currently 6:28 AM,
00:00
and they have slots available within the hour,
00:00
just about for me to take my exam,
00:00
if I wanted to take it in the morning.
00:00
There you have it folks.
00:00
If you need to find a test time and a test date,
00:00
there's tons [LAUGHTER] available.
00:00
Be sure to take
00:00
advantage of this if you want to take it at home.
00:00
If you want to take it in-person,
00:00
may not be so available,
00:00
because you're going to be working around the time of
00:00
the testing center. Just keep that in mind.
00:00
But if you're wanting to take this at home,
00:00
which I recommend and I enjoy it,
00:00
because I get to do it on my own convenience,
00:00
it really is convenient
00:00
to you because there's so many times available,
00:00
so be sure to leverage that.
00:00
We're going to go ahead and select this time,
00:00
just as this demo.
00:00
There we go. Now we get to check out if we want.
00:00
I'm not going to because I'm not
00:00
scheduling my exam at this time.
00:00
But as you can see this,
00:00
this whole process has been
00:00
completely simplistic, very easy,
00:00
very quick, and within a few minutes,
00:00
you have your entire exam scheduled and ready to go.
00:00
Now I do recommend that you
00:00
review everything we talked about.
00:00
Review your notes, review the white papers,
00:00
and take that practice exam so that you are ready to go.
00:00
My favorite threshold for
00:00
all certification exams and I've
00:00
taken quite a few [LAUGHTER],
00:00
is 85 percent on the practice exam.
00:00
If you can score a passing score of
00:00
85 percent on the practice exam,
00:00
typically that's a good indicator
00:00
that you're ready for the real exam.
00:00
I usually like to believe
00:00
that the real exam is going to be a little bit harder.
00:00
May not always be,
00:00
but slightly harder than a practice exam,
00:00
and so I usually account for five or 10 percent dip,
00:00
or a difference between the practice and the real exam.
00:00
Usually, that threshold has always worked for me,
00:00
not to say that I always score 70s,
00:00
[LAUGHTER] but if you are scoring an
00:00
85 or higher on the practice exam,
00:00
that's a good indicator that
00:00
you're ready for the real exam,
00:00
and you should be able to meet that passing threshold of,
00:00
I think this one is 720 out of 1,000,
00:00
or 72 percent or so.
00:00
If you're hitting a B or an A,
00:00
typically that's a good sign that you're
00:00
ready to pass this exam.
00:00
Anyways, I hope this was helpful.
00:00
Good luck on your exam,
00:00
and make sure to post it on LinkedIn.
00:00
Once you've passed your certification exam,
00:00
post your credential on LinkedIn,
00:00
and make sure to tag me.
00:00
My name is Nicholas Moy.
00:00
You can find my LinkedIn profile
00:00
in the very beginning of this course,
00:00
on the very first lesson,
00:00
where we're introducing me
00:00
as the instructor in this course.
00:00
Make sure to reach out to me,
00:00
let me know that you passed this exam.
00:00
I want to hear about how this course
00:00
was helpful for you, or if it wasn't,
00:00
or if you found things on the exam
00:00
that were not listed in this course,
00:00
because I'm constantly looking to improve this course.
00:00
Make sure to reach out, say hello,
00:00
and let me know that this course was helpful and that you
00:00
were successful in passing your certification exam.
00:00
That being said, let's go ahead
00:00
and wrap this whole entire course up,
00:00
and I'll see you in the next lesson.
00:00
Now that you guys have gone ahead and set up
00:00
your AWS training account,
00:00
and you've gone ahead and signed up for your exam,
00:00
I want to wish you best of luck.
00:00
I know you're going to do well.
00:00
If you have any questions about preparing for your exam,
00:00
or any questions about the technical material we've
00:00
covered so far on this course,
00:00
in this journey, feel free to reach out to me on
00:00
LinkedIn, or on Twitter.
00:00
I'm active on both of those areas
00:00
and my profiles are both there.
00:00
Happy to hear from you.
00:00
Sometimes I get messages from students,
00:00
and I love to listen
00:00
to the story and what everyone's going through.
00:00
We'd love to hear from you.
00:00
Make sure to drop a post on LinkedIn tagging me,
00:00
letting me know that you have passed
00:00
your Solution Architect Associate
00:00
certification exam when you do.
00:00
I love seeing the messages,
00:00
I love seeing the feedback.
00:00
If you guys have any valuable feedback,
00:00
if you happen to find any test questions
00:00
and content that were not on this course.
00:00
AWS is constantly changing their exams,
00:00
so it's always good to hear from the students like
00:00
you if you guys catch anything that
00:00
we need to add to
00:00
this course or things that we need to change.
00:00
Thank you in advance,
00:00
please be sure to reach out to me,
00:00
and let me know when you've passed,
00:00
and best of luck.
