>> Hey, everybody. Welcome back.
00:00
In this lecture, we're going to be talking
00:00
about preparing for the exam itself,
00:00
the AZ 104 exam.
00:00
Whenever I'm studying for an IT certification exam,
00:00
I like to get a good understanding before jumping
00:00
into the content of the different topics.
00:00
This helps me mentally prepare myself for focusing on
00:00
individual chapters or domains or subjects really
00:00
to prepare myself to really focus on areas.
00:00
I like to try to
00:00
determine how the exam is going to be weighted.
00:00
That way you can work smarter and
00:00
>> not necessarily harder.
00:00
>> The learning objectives for
00:00
this lesson is going to be that.
00:00
It's going to be focusing on the Cloud domains.
00:00
Really the subjects that make up the AZ 104 exam.
00:00
Focusing on how the exam may be testing you more in
00:00
certain areas and less than others and then
00:00
we can focus our attention on those areas.
00:00
Then, we want to review the layout of the exam itself.
00:00
How many questions, how much time, stuff like that.
00:00
Every exam can be a little different.
00:00
It's good to have this in the back of your mind
00:00
going into preparing and studying.
00:00
Let's start off with the exam domains and weighting.
00:00
The exam is broken down into five different domains.
00:00
Like I said, think of these as subjects.
00:00
If you're not familiar with domains,
00:00
maybe this is new to you, that's okay.
00:00
This is just an area of
00:00
subjects where it's going to be higher-level.
00:00
These are your higher-level classifications.
00:00
If you look at Azure Compute,
00:00
there's a lot of different services
00:00
that fall within compute.
00:00
You have containers and you
00:00
have virtual machines and web apps.
00:00
These different services, we're going to be breaking
00:00
down in more detail as we move along in the course,
00:00
but they do fall under this domain,
00:00
the Azure Compute resource domain.
00:00
That being said, we're going to have
00:00
five different domains we're going to be covering.
00:00
We're going to be starting off with identity,
00:00
which is going to focus on managing users and
00:00
groups and role-based access control and
00:00
just access control in general
00:00
across your Cloud environment.
00:00
We're going to be talking about backing
00:00
up Azure resources.
00:00
That is pretty straightforward.
00:00
You want to be able to monitor and backup for
00:00
performance and optimization and redundancy.
00:00
We're also going to be learning about
00:00
deploying and managing Azure Compute resources.
00:00
This is going to be virtual machines,
00:00
this is going to be web apps and containers.
00:00
All the different details that fall
00:00
within those core services themselves.
00:00
Then we're going to be hopping over to discuss
00:00
storage solutions which do fall under compute as well.
00:00
Then lastly, we're also going to be
00:00
talking about virtual networking,
00:00
which does make up quite a bit of the exam.
00:00
One thing I want to note here and this is why I like
00:00
to talk about this before jumping into the content,
00:00
is you have varying percentages
00:00
for each of the Cloud domains.
00:00
This helps you understand
00:00
where you need to focus your attention.
00:00
As we can see here, 20-25 percent will be focused on
00:00
the Azure Compute resources and 25-30 percent will
00:00
be focused on virtual networking resources.
00:00
That helps us prepare ourselves to focus
00:00
on these more technical details that are going to
00:00
be tested on within the exam itself.
00:00
That being said, this is an
00:00
>> administrator certification.
00:00
>> This is going to be more technical
00:00
in nature, more engineering-focused.
00:00
You want to make sure that you
00:00
have the necessary background
00:00
to move forward with these different topics.
00:00
If you aren't very familiar with IT,
00:00
you're not very familiar with
00:00
systems engineering or administration,
00:00
I do encourage you to take a step back.
00:00
Maybe look at the EZ-900
00:00
or other prerequisite courses that we mentioned
00:00
before to help build
00:00
your confidence before we
00:00
move forward into the certification exam.
00:00
Here's what you can expect when
00:00
you're preparing to take the exam.
00:00
The exam is going to be one exam.
00:00
I say that because before in the past,
00:00
Microsoft had a setup so that you had to pass
00:00
two exams in order for you to acquire the certification.
00:00
That's not the case anymore.
00:00
Now you only have one exam you have to
00:00
take and you have two hours to take it,
00:00
which is plenty of time.
00:00
The question types that you're going to be seeing on
00:00
the exam are going to be multiple choice and
00:00
multiple answer and you may encounter
00:00
some simulation questions. How many questions?
00:00
Well, 40-60.
00:00
This varies depending on the exam set that you get.
00:00
There's different exam sets that Microsoft creates,
00:00
that Azure creates, and they issue to you and
00:00
it's assigned at random.
00:00
Really, there's not any way
00:00
to determine which one you're going to get.
00:00
I always like to air on the side of caution and
00:00
prepare for the worst-case scenario.
00:00
I would say prepare for 60 questions,
00:00
but there's a chance you may get less.
00:00
All right, everybody. That about wraps up this one.
00:00
I know it was a quick lesson.
00:00
I will see you in the next lecture.
