Wow. Well, thank you, Ryan, for that great introduction. I didn't even know I was aware of everything I did for this amount of organizations.
Um welcome, guys and girls. You know, I'm thrilled to have you all here with us and super excited to really drive today's discussion.
Now, I just really want to quickly run through our agenda today. First, you know, I'm gonna be providing a little background on Sai Buri, who we are and really what we dio
next, I'm going to discuss some of the skill gaps as it pertains to the industry as a whole and the importance of developing your teams,
you know, cybersecurity skills.
I'm also gonna break down where we see organizations commonly struggle with learning and development. And finally,
of course, I'm going to go through and walk through CyberRays approach for helping you navigate these obstacles to build
truly a highly skilled cyber security team.

now, these results are not uncommon. 38% of people have said yes and over 60% has have said no.
Um, in fact, when I speak to I t and cybersecurity, you know leaders about 80%.
The answer is typically no.
Right. We find this actually to be one of the root causes for skill gaps with teams, along with not being able to find or attract the right talent.
You know, not having a reliable process for getting new hires up to speed,
not having a plan to help employees understand how they can grow and not being able to keep your best cybersecurity talent.
Um, you know where we see Thio sie skill gaps manifest themselves. We see skill gaps manifest in a number of ways, along with the employee journey, you know, from step one recruiting them, you know, toe on boarding your new employees and later on experiencing career path thing.
You know, we're going to discuss many of these different topics as part of our webinar Siri's.
However, our main objective today and what we're going to focus on is skill development.
As you can see, 65% of cybersecurity professionals don't believe that their organization provides the right level of training to help them keep up with their business and I t risk,
you know, we're gonna go into and dig into why this is the case and how we're going to be able to solve this problem or challenge,
which then leads me into our second poll question for you all.
What is your primary motivation for wanting to develop your team's cybersecurity skills?
All right, there's a little bit more of a lengthy one, so just gonna give it another 15 to 20 seconds.
Alright. Awesome. So the majority of people here, with over 40% said to establish and or implement security best practices.
Now you know more on the benefits and everything you know. Why should you invest in developing your team? Cybersecurity skills
in an evolving threat landscape where attack vectors seem to expand every day.
You know your people or your first line of defense,
you know, which is why it's critical for cyber security teams to continually build in, sharpen their skills, really to stay ahead of emerging technologies and threats. You know, being offensive, not just defensive,
right. It enables your team toe work smarter and faster,
ensuring amore effective use of tools and allowing them to learn and, more importantly, implement security best practices, which we just saw. That answer.
Providing your team with learning opportunities demonstrates your willingness to invest in their career growth, you know, which drives up
better employee engagement and improves retention
At the end of the day. It gives you confidence in your team's ability to really mitigate risks
and bolsters their confidence and their ability to actually perform.
All right. And I think last but not least, the last poll. Our question is number three. Do you currently have a development plan that ties your learning to your strategic objectives?
All right, just a couple more seconds over 60% has replied, coming upon 70
so this is not uncommon at all. Nearly 80% of the attendees here said no,
right. And so this is kind of where most organizations go wrong, right? The benefits of developing your team cybersecurity skills are clear, and we know that most organizations offer some level of training.
Okay, so for some, for many organizations,
development is just a check in the box exercise. There's no strategy or plan designed to drive specific business outcomes.
There's no communicating the purpose of training or specific skills needed.
And it's typically reactive, you know, in response to a recent security instant or perhaps a new vendor.
And they're more focused on or concerned about. You know, the C E use or c pes um, than ensuring the employees are actually retaining and applying their learn skills.
Many organizations don't make time for their team toe. Learn on the job. Actually, we had a recent Skills Gap survey that revealed on Lee. 24% of cybersecurity professionals spend time at work learning new job related skills.
So employees are forced to typically learn outside of work, which may face a new set of distractions and competing priorities that make it difficult to put in the time and focus on learning.
And many organizations I speak with learning opportunities, air not easily or readily accessible.
Um, well, this is likely to change with co vid.
We know many organizations still rely on in person training boot camps, conferences to really skill up their team.
There are some drawbacks, you know, to this approach, one being time, cost and travel. It's not a very scalable solution.
You're you're unlikely to be able to send everyone on your team
right. And finally, we see many organizations who paint training with broad strokes.
Two of the most common approaches that I've seen is being what I like to call the one size fits all approach, you know, providing learning opportunities that are intended for all employees.
These learning opportunities,
you know, often aren't relevant. And don't align with the cyber security teams specific needs. The other is a jack of all trades approach. Now this you may invest in online trading platforms that offer courses on a broad range of I T
and and business topics,
right. They have a little bit of everything, but not enough of what you really need.
And many don't offer the right technical content or the right types of hands on learning opportunities for cybersecurity professionals.
So you're probably wondering what is the right approach? Eso the solution here, and we believe there are four key ways to building a highly skilled, ineffective cyber security team.
First is you're building a development plan that aligns with your strategy.
All right, start by defining your objectives and communicate your specific goals, expectations and timelines.
You know, you can also bake this into your coaching sessions you know, performance.
Um review. Process your weekly or biweekly one on ones, whatever that looks like.
And finally make time for your team toe. Learn on the job. Thio. Position them, you know, for success.

if I wanted to dig deeper, I can look into specific skill assessments to better understand my team's strengths and weaknesses.
You know, for example, if you have a number of junior folks and want to baseline their skills, you could assign our introduction toe. I t in cyber security assessment.
You can also shift from a macro level view to a micro level of you to see how each member of your team is progressing and uncover where further development is needed.

within this assessment
and on the right hand side is how they scored.
you can make adjustments, direct the right learning opportunities and measure the impact.
You know, having this level of insight will also give you the confidence and knowing that your team skill set

Our first question, um, is can you tell me a little bit more about the rules of the customer success manager and content curriculum engineer?
