>> Welcome back to the Cybrary course
00:00
in building your InfoSec lab.
00:00
I am your host and instructor, Kevin Hernandez.
00:00
In our last lesson, we installed Windows Server 2016.
00:00
This operating system was
00:00
a pre-requirement in order to install Nexpose.
00:00
Unlike other installations, we actually installed it
00:00
within our desktop utilizing VMware player.
00:00
In today's lesson, we'll actually go
00:00
over installing Nexpose inside
00:00
our Windows Server 2016. Now, let's get started.
00:00
Now, if you google, Nexpose Community Edition,
00:00
on the first hits on
00:00
Google search will be this page over here;
00:00
Nexpose Community 1-Year Trial.
00:00
Should be more than enough to get
00:00
a custom and used to this software.
00:00
Let's go ahead and fill this up and hit Submit.
00:00
Once you submit the information,
00:00
you will be taken to this following page;
00:00
Windows installation in a Linux installation.
00:00
Now before you start downloading executables,
00:00
scroll down a little right here,
00:00
and you will see the QuickStart guide.
00:00
Let's open that up real quick. Inside VM.
00:00
Here, we want to go at exactly
00:00
to the supportive platforms page,
00:00
which takes you to another website.
00:00
[NOISE] Here we go.
00:00
Once you scroll down, you
00:00
should see your operating systems.
00:00
You see Ubuntu Linux, Windows Server,
00:00
Windows 8.1, CentOS 7,
00:00
Oracle Linux, among others.
00:00
Since we both have
00:00
a CentOs and a Windows Server environment,
00:00
let's go ahead and install it in a Windows environment.
00:00
Let's go back to the previous page and download
00:00
the Windows executable and wait for it to finish.
00:00
Before we actually start installing Nexpose,
00:00
let's go ahead and edit the virtual machine.
00:00
Nexpose does require a lot of extra resources,
00:00
therefore, we need to upgrade.
00:00
Create a little more RAM.
00:00
[NOISE] Let's start the [inaudible].
00:00
While we continue, let's make
00:00
sure VMware Tool is installed.
00:00
[NOISE] Right here.
00:00
[NOISE] Click here.
00:00
Next, typical; install.
00:00
Let's wait for it to finish.
00:00
They are now installed and the system must restart.
00:00
Just give it a second. After VMware tools is installed,
00:00
you should be able to drag and drop
00:00
your installation that we
00:00
downloaded earlier into our box.
00:00
Let's grab it, drag and drop it into
00:00
our machine in the real.
00:00
Now let's close this. [NOISE] Let's
00:00
make this a little bit bigger.
00:00
There we go. Let's run the installer.
00:00
[NOISE]
00:00
Just loading the installer Wizard.
00:00
Click Next. That's okay.
00:00
It says that 80gigs is recommended.
00:00
That's okay. It recommends
00:00
eight gigs of RAM, which is okay.
00:00
Now, let's fill out the user details.
00:00
[NOISE]
00:00
Let's click Next,
00:00
and Next, and Next.
00:00
Let's wait for it to finish.
00:00
To complete it, we click Finish.
00:00
Now you take a screenshot of how to access Nexpose.
00:00
Take a screenshot. Here we go.
00:00
Let's go to our Excel sheet and [NOISE]
00:00
paste it in the sheet which is called Nexpose.
00:00
Hit Save. Make sure you say [NOISE] Windows.
00:00
Oops. That's okay.
00:00
Let's go back here, click Finish.
00:00
Complete the installation.
00:00
You must restart your computer.
00:00
Let's do another restart.
00:00
Let's give it a minute for it to load.
00:00
Now let's go ahead and log in.
00:00
[NOISE] As you can see,
00:00
with the RAM upgrade, it can now work.
00:00
[NOISE] Let's try this.
00:00
Let's plug our credentials in.
00:00
There we go. We are in Nexpose now.
00:00
Enter a product key. For now,
00:00
we are going to cancel because we're still on trial and
00:00
this is Nexpose Community Edition.
00:00
Now what did we learn today?
00:00
We basically installed Nexpose within
00:00
our Windows Server 2016 operating system.
00:00
It was a fairly simple installation.
00:00
Even though it did prompt us for the activation link,
00:00
this is something that we'll cover in a later lesson.
00:00
In our next lesson, we'll go over and install
00:00
Autopsy by Sleuthkit and FTK Imager.
00:00
Both of these are applications, unlike shift,
00:00
they are not standby operating systems,
00:00
these can be installed within the Windows itself.
00:00
Hope to see you soon. Have a great day.
