>> Welcome back to the summary course
00:00
in building your InfoSec lab.
00:00
I'm your host and Instructor, Kevin Hernandez.
00:00
In our last lesson, we'll installed SIFT,
00:00
a forensics operating system by the people in sense DI.
00:00
In today's lesson, we'll go over Windows Server 2016,
00:00
as this is part of the requirements to install Nexpose,
00:00
we will also install this in our personal computer.
00:00
Now, let's get started. A quick Google search for
00:00
Windows Server 2016 will
00:00
present us with several options, as always.
00:00
However, if you just click on the first one,
00:00
you see the Eval Center Evaluate Windows Server 2016,
00:00
and here we are. Just what we need.
00:00
You have 180 days,
00:00
or basically around half year to evaluate it.
00:00
At that point, either you have to
00:00
purchase a license or install it.
00:00
I believe 180 days is more
00:00
than enough for you to familiarize with AD,
00:00
Nexpose and other tools that we
00:00
will install in this operating system.
00:00
Even though Windows Server 2019 is presented,
00:00
many of our tools are not
00:00
yet supported by this operating system.
00:00
Therefore, we'll download Windows Server
00:00
2016 for our tools,
00:00
and if you want to familiarize yourself with
00:00
Windows Server 2019 for AD purposes,
00:00
you're more than welcome to also
00:00
download it and run it in your environment.
00:00
For now, let's just stick to Windows Server 2016.
00:00
Let's click on "ISO" and hit "Continue".
00:00
Here is where you actually have to fill up information.
00:00
Now, as you see it has work email or phone number.
00:00
I will actually put my work information.
00:00
That way they don't reach me personally endlessly.
00:00
Okay. Worst-case scenario if
00:00
you can put your personal
00:00
>> information and just tell them,
00:00
>> "Hey, I'm just building a lab.
00:00
I want to get familiar with the software.
00:00
I don't work for a company," and then
00:00
they will stop calling you afterwards.
00:00
They might still send you e-mails though.
00:00
I'm going to go ahead and pause the video while I put
00:00
my information in here and I'll continue in a second.
00:00
Once you put your information in,
00:00
it will have a basically a download here.
00:00
Select English or your language
00:00
of preference, click "Download".
00:00
You can see your download
00:00
has started and you can see
00:00
>> it right here in the bottom.
00:00
>> Let's give it a few minutes
00:00
>> for it to finish downloading.
00:00
>> Now that Windows is finally downloaded,
00:00
let's go ahead and head out to be VMware.
00:00
Since we do have limited space in our EXE psi,
00:00
and our AD tools are not going to
00:00
be required to be on 24/7,
00:00
or actually install Server
00:00
2016 in our personal computers with VMware player.
00:00
First of all, create new virtual machine.
00:00
Select, I will install
00:00
the operating system later. Click "Next".
00:00
Select Microsoft Windows Server 2016.
00:00
Select "Next", [NOISE] "Next", and "Finish".
00:00
Now, before starting your virtual machine,
00:00
click "Edit DVD drive".
00:00
Use ISO image, browse,
00:00
and navigate to your installations files.
00:00
Select "2016".
00:00
Open. Click "Okay", power on the machine.
00:00
Click and hit a key,
00:00
and wait for Windows to load.
00:00
Once loaded, click on "Next", install now,
00:00
and this is very similar to
00:00
a Windows 10 installation as you can see.
00:00
Let's give it a second to finish
00:00
up loading the installation files.
00:00
Select "Desktop Experience". Click "Next".
00:00
Accept license agreement. Click "Next".
00:00
Now select "Custom Install".
00:00
Given others upgrade,
00:00
you really don't have anything installed
00:00
so you have to install from scratch.
00:00
Select the drive, click "Next".
00:00
Now it will start the installation process.
00:00
This will reboot several times during
00:00
the installation, so be patient.
00:00
See the installation is done and this will
00:00
be the first of several reboots.
00:00
When installation is completed,
00:00
then we are required to change the password,
00:00
[NOISE] hit "Finish".
00:00
It's already installed, and so you have to this page.
00:00
00:00
It's the control alt delete equivalent.
00:00
[NOISE] Log in.
00:00
You can see you're now in
00:00
Windows Server 2016 Standard Edition.
00:00
[NOISE] Let's give it a
00:00
>> second for it to finish loading,
00:00
>> [inaudible] this for now,
00:00
and there we go, Windows is now installed.
00:00
What we learned today?
00:00
>> We installed Windows Server 2016.
00:00
>> Actually with the enhance desktop experience,
00:00
because I'm very happy with [inaudible] [LAUGHTER].
00:00
In our next lesson, we'll go over installing
00:00
Nexpose inside our
00:00
>> Windows system that we just deployed.
00:00
>> Hope to see you soon. Have a great day.
