I Welcome back to Module one course introduction. This is less than three environment set up.
00:05
We're currently in sub lesson 3.5 D beaver insulation under a boo to Lennox in the previous lesson we installed in my sequel, Database Engine, and this lesson we're gonna we are going to get the D Beaver application installed. And just to go over what D Beaver does again
00:21
provides an interface into the my sequel database engine that will make a sequel development easier for us. It'll provide features such as Intel a sense and easy to use features such as exporting or importing a database as well as other things.
00:36
Now you get that installed on a boon to we need to add the repositories we need to run the update, and we need to install the Devi for application.
00:44
So I'm already at the D Beaver sight. And don't worry, these links and addresses will be provided in the study guide material that that goes with this lesson as well, so that you could easily pull the link up
00:55
with that said I already have a terminal session open in a boon to I'm gonna go ahead and switch to the pseudo user
01:02
with a suitable dash s
01:04
command. Subtle Dash s
01:07
type in my password.
01:10
And then I'm going to do this the easy way and just copy and paste.
01:22
Make sure I don't smell anything wrong.
01:25
Relating it. Endured to continue.
01:30
Shouldn't take but a moment for it to install the repositories.
01:34
And once that's complete, we need to run the
01:38
apt desk. Get update Command.
01:41
This will make sure that the boot to OS correctly understands where to find the package once we
01:47
enter the command to install it.
01:49
So let's go ahead and say apt Dash gets install D B E e. Let's see if tab will complete it
01:59
Almost. There's a couple options.
02:01
I have to get it installed. Devi for Desi.
02:05
Go ahead and run that.
02:07
Go ahead and take Why? For yes gonna use 169 megs of space.
02:12
I will also go ahead and fast forward to the completion of the installation so that we don't have to sit here and wait.
02:17
Okay, the installation has finished. Let's go ahead and see if we can start the D Beaver application. I'm going to click on the activities in the top left
02:25
in the search box one type D beaver.
02:29
And sure enough, looks like I got an icon and everything. Go ahead and give that click
02:34
and we could see that the D Beaver application is opening. So that is definitely promising.
02:40
And the first time you opened a beer, you'll get this screen
02:44
and let's select a different ah database.
02:47
Let's go ahead and click on all
02:50
and find my sequel
02:54
without a version
02:57
and click next
03:00
and type in your password again.
03:04
Test connection.
03:06
I didn't download the ah version of the driver,
03:10
and we have success now
03:15
and finish
03:19
no for the sample database. Close the tip of the day.
03:22
Go ahead and expand the data basis
03:24
and we could see the default databases are there. I'm confident that D. Beaver is successfully installed and communicating with the local my sequel database server.
03:35
I hope you were able to follow along and get this installation of the B were working and connected to your local database, and I hope to see in the next lesson. Thank you
