Challenge: Password123
National Cybersecurity Awareness Month has several themes, one of which is Password Complexity Awareness. This password challenge will have you analyze a password and validate if it is secure. The goal is to attempt to crack a password and gain hands-on skills to evaluate the importance of password complexity for real-world use cases.

Module 1: Examine
Password complexity, from an offensive view!
In this NCAM weekly challenge, you will analyze a password hash. This challenge aims to look beyond the basics of password recommendations and critically examine why they are important. We all know about password complexity but let’s see why it is so important!
- What type of password hash is it?
- Was the password on a list, if so what list?
- What is the password?
- Name another attack you could use without cracking the password?
Who is this for?
Early career practitioners. Individuals new to cybersecurity may be challenged but the difficulty rating on this challenge is relatively low. We encourage the use of any internet resources, community/colleague assistance in completion of the challenge.
