The Understand Internet Security module provides you with the instruction and server hardware to develop your hands on skills in the defined topics. This module includes the following exercises:
- Internet Explorer Browser Settings
- Securing Websites in IIS
- Configure Authentication in IIS
Exercise 1- Internet Explorer Browser Settings
In this exercise, you will learn the following using Windows Server 2008 R2:
- Configuring Browser Settings
- Configuring Internet Zones
- Securing Websites
Exercise 2 - Securing Websites in IIS
You can configure your web sites under secured web sites using Internet Information Server (IIS). Server certificate can be obtained from a certification authority. In IIS, you can create self-signed certificates.
Exercise 3 - Configure Authentication in IIS
Authentication helps you confirm the identity of clients who request access to your sites and applications. IIS 7.5 supports Anonymous and Integrated Windows authentication by default.
IIS 7.5 supports both challenge-based and login redirection-based authentication methods. A challenge-based authentication method, for example, Integrated Windows authentication, requires a client to respond correctly to a server-initiated challenge. A login redirection-based authentication method, for example, Forms authentication, relies on redirection to a login page to determine the identity of the user. You cannot use both a challenge-based authentication method and a login redirection-based authentication method at the same time.
