The Managing Operating System Images module provides you with the instruction and Server hardware to develop your hands on skills in the defined topics. This module includes the following exercises:
- Preparing System Requirements for Windows Deployment Services
- Verify Functionality of Windows Deployment Services
The following exam objectives are covered in this lab:
- Create, manage and maintain images for deployment using Windows Deployment Services
It will take approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes to complete this lab.
Exercise 1 - Preparing System Requirements for Windows Deployment Services
Windows Deployment Services (WDS) is an operating system deployment tool for streamlining the roll out of Windows systems to bare metal computers. Remote deployment is done using network-based installation. This means you can perform the installation even when you are not physically present at a computer or do not have the installation files on an installation media like a DVD or a USB drive.
In this exercise, you will prepare the system requirements for a successful configuration of Windows Deployment Services.
Exercise 2 - Verify Functionality of Windows Deployment Services
After setting up the system requirements for successfully implementing remote OS installation using Windows Deployment Services, you will test if WDS clients can connect to the WDS server.
In this exercise, you will perform remote OS deployment on a bare-metal computer.
