The Creating and Administering Virtual Machines Using SCVMM module provides you with the instruction and server hardware to develop your hands on skills in the defined topics. This module includes the following exercises:
- Add Hyper-V Servers to Virtual Machine Manager
- Create a New Virtual Machine
- Cloning a Virtual Machine
Exercise 1 - Add Hyper-V Servers to Virtual Machine Manager
In this exercise, you will configure the firewall rules to allow Virtual Machine Manager to manage the Hyper-V hosts in the lab. After which, you will set up an SCRunAsAccount user that will be used for managing the Hyper-V hosts in the Virtual Machine Manager console.
Please note that you may have seen these tasks in some previous modules. You need to perform these again because the Hyper-V servers are not managed by default in Virtual Machine Manager as per lab setup.
Exercise 2 - Create a New Virtual Machine
System Center Virtual Machine Manager being the management tool for Hyper-V servers and other virtualization platforms support the creation and management of guest virtual machines.
In this exercise, you will learn how to create virtual machines and modify their properties as required.
Exercise 3 - Cloning a Virtual Machine
To save time and effort in rolling out new virtual machines, you can duplicate or clone a new virtual machine from an existing template using SCVMM.
In this exercise, you will clone a new virtual machine and remove unique system settings on a Windows VM using its native deployment tools like System Preparation Tool or sysprep.exe.
