>> Hello there, Cybrarians.
00:01
Welcome back to the
00:01
>> Linux plus course here at Cybrary.
00:01
>> I'm your instructor, Rob Goelz.
00:01
In today's lesson, we're going to move into
00:01
Module 7 and Domain 2
00:01
and discuss software management.
00:01
Hey, before we get too much further down the road,
00:01
you're already in the second domain.
00:01
Congrats, and thanks for sticking with me.
00:01
Let's go ahead and move on and
00:01
discuss what we're going to cover in today's lesson.
00:01
In today's lesson, we're going to take on
00:01
the content that's going to be covered in
00:01
this module, Module 7.
00:01
We're also going to cover
00:01
>> software management objectives
00:01
>> that are found on Linux plus exam.
00:01
First of all, what will you take away from this module?
00:01
Well, this module is going to explain how
00:01
software gets installed and how we manage software.
00:01
At some point in your systems administration career,
00:01
you're going to end up installing, patching,
00:01
or updating software on a Linux machine.
00:01
Being able to do that efficiently and accurately
00:01
will make your job so much easier as a Linux admin.
00:01
In addition to installing software,
00:01
we're going to learn how to compile software,
00:01
work with repos,
00:01
and being able to understand those tricky bits of
00:01
software management will make you a better
00:01
Linux admin and make your life a lot easier.
00:01
In the module, we're going to look at package types,
00:01
we're going to get it to work with
00:01
RPM installation tools,
00:01
we're also going to use dpkg installation tools,
00:01
and learn a little bit about build tools.
00:01
Then we're going to work with libraries,
00:01
we're going to cover repositories,
00:01
working with those repositories,
00:01
and learn about acquisition commands.
00:01
But with that, we've reached the end of the lesson.
00:01
In today's lesson, we discussed
00:01
>> the road map for Module 7
00:01
>> and the software management objectives
00:01
>> that are covered on the Linux plus exam.
00:01
Thanks so much for being here,
00:01
and I look forward to seeing you in our next lesson.
