I have three learning objectives to this lesson. First will discuss what lessons we can take away from ancient physical security.

Then we'll enter the question of how can ancient security measures be applied today, and we'll finish up discussing modern measures and how they differ from the ancient wounds.

We discussed ancient security measures in the last lesson,

and many of those techniques still apply today. Ultimately, we want to keep the unwanted people out. We want to secure the people within,

and we want to protect. The resource is now in this situation we're not. We're not necessarily talking about law enforcement here. We're talking about security posture for a business, but for them, their business secrets, their manufacturing supply chain,

all of those things go into what they want to protect.

And ultimately, their security strategies have to support the bigger strategy of their business as a whole.

So what techniques still apply? Well, we still can employ walls.

We can still employ towers and gates, although towers would beam or with a militaristic or prison setting, so you won't necessarily see those around the business. But definitely

gated campuses. Will. You will control the flow of traffic by using gates. We can still employ open spaces and employ security there to make sure that if the person gets through the outer perimeter, they're still confronted by security measures within the campus.

So what are some new new considerations that we have to consider? Well, first of all, we have the concept that we discussed in the last lesson about location. We discussed how important it was to place your town. Your world town or your stronghold nears certain physical features or physical terrain

Now it takes on slightly different, a slightly different approach.

First, we look at things like access to infrastructure, where the roads that we're going to need that are going to provide, unlike for first responders in case of a disaster and an outlet. If We have to evacuate the people from our campus or from our building.

again. First responders being able to respond quickly to a fire or some kind of disaster is critical. And then we also look at things like utilities. Natural resource is and like and having having them easily available to us.

And how do we modernize the old techniques? Well,

we used technology and it doesn't change why we do the things we just changes. How we do. Video cameras provide us a 3 60 view that never gets tired. It also allows us to use fewer people to monitor the perimeter or monitor around are the area that we're trying to secure

We can also use technology to improve our communications, to act, to enhance the limiting of access to certain facilities.

So what are some new with new techniques? Well,

we have tools to use for identification purposes. Whether it's biometrics are if I d locators, which we can use. We also have things like multi factor authentication, which can enhance security, swipe a card

How is location important in modern, modern physical security, It provides good visibility of those approaching.
