hello and welcome to modulate the module. That's all about the amazing public clown platform. Microsoft Azure Azure is the second largest public clown provider next to eight of us, and has a huge penetration into the enterprise. As so many companies have Windows machines and also use Microsoft Active Directory is the directory based domain controller.
00:27
Authenticating and authorizing users with network service is
00:31
and at least for now, in the Enterprise. Microsoft Exchange is the clear choice for an email platform. And since all this stuff lives in Microsoft Office 3 65 Sass and Microsoft Licensing allows you under your E A. To convert your premise. Software licensing to the Azure platform is your is a huge win for many of Microsoft's customers.
00:52
Microsoft Azure is a collection of various cloud computing Service's, including hosted and managed versions of Microsoft Technologies and open technologies such as Lennox Distributions deployable inside a virtual machine as your lax upfront costs or any appreciable time delays in resource provisioning,
01:08
we can start building our platform with agility and capacity right now, and it will. Scale is our business demands.
01:14
Azure can be utilized in any scale from a grand start upto a Fortune 500 company. Because of the ease of transition organizations within existing Windows server deployment may find azure to be best suited to their needs and a compelling option for enterprises transitioning from on premise. Windows servers to the cloud
01:33
is your is affordable and usage based you only pay for what you use for a long as you use it. New users receive a $200 service credit for 30 days when signing up. For Microsoft Azure, the credit can be applied towards any Microsoft provided service, and additional discounts and credits are available for business startups, nonprofits and universities.
01:53
Azure, like AWS, has a free tier, 12 month no charge subscription, so you can start using free. Eligible service is
02:00
to learn more about the platform and how, as your service is, can help out the businesses and organizations you support. But Microsoft Azure for Students Program grants a credit of $100 to be used within 12 months, as well as access to over 25 free products, including virtual machines, file storage and sequel databases for the 1st 12 months.
02:20
While many other products to the student
02:22
are always free, this offer is available to students and faculty 18 or older in a four year educational institution.
02:30
Okay, so we're going to do a little bit of spinning around and in fact, get a little bit dizzy with this huge portfolio that is Thea's your products, wheat. And so from this page, what we're going to do is we're gonna scroll here just a little bit, and we're gonna look at just some of the categories of the offerings. There's over 100 products in the azure stack
02:47
that we can use to optimize and empower organization.
02:51
So those product categories include analytics and A I Compute containers, Databases, Dev Ops, Internet of things. The Microsoft is your stack, mobile networking, security and storage. And so, as we scroll down here, what I want to show you is just within a single category. How many product offerings?
03:10
These? Your product portfolio has
03:14
just a huge amount of stuff. So here's all our compute options where we can spend a virtual machine or cloud service is we want to spend up a new Web app.
03:23
Our containers are databases. Well, we want to put a Microsoft sequel or no sequel instance on a on a compute platform we want to spend up is your cosmos d B and start managing our databases.
03:35
Our dead are deaf tools and Dev ops
03:38
identity. Look at all the Internet of things. So ah, hub on howto be a front end and manager Internet of things And we want to start pushing out applications to our Internet of things.
03:51
The management and governance,
03:53
the migration tools, Migration tools were always my favorite because we are always working with customers and how to go from there. Cloud. Ah, I should say how to go from their premise based instances of their servers to a *** stack in the cloud. Will the migration tools help us get there? And they can give me some cost management and cost analysis
04:11
options. So what is my server? 2016 instance look like in the cloud. How much compute in storage and memory and CPU do I need And then what? It's a good what's it gonna cost me? Well, I could do all of these things and view all of these things from this migration portal
04:27
mobile. So we want to spend up a new mobile app. We want to roll it out to all of our android phones and our ions phones. Well, we can do it from here. Networking we wanna carve up in is your firewall. We want to spend up a new load balancer. We want to create a new express route. A dedicated connection to our server instances in the Azure stack.
04:46
Do so from here. Here's all our storage options
04:49
and our web options. So if you're not busy enough, well, let's start spinning up some stuff here and some demonstrations, and we're gonna start having fun with this huge and amazing as your portfolio.
05:01
All right, We're in our azure home page in our consul screen. And so from here we can access things like our virtual machines start spinning up a new database. Start using service is ah, from our front page Here,
05:15
here's our virtual machines. Accessing our storage. Got a really nice monitor. Quick snapshot page that we can access here. Ah, we can go into your cosmos database.
05:28
Ah, and then over, huh? No laughed. We've got some
05:30
easy snap ins where we can start going to things like spinning up a new computer platform, or we can start working with our azure active directory. We can go into the security center and see who's been trying to access our cloud service is Or if we even have some issues, we can t epa tech support and open up a ticket.
05:49
All hair from our consul home page.
05:53
We are back to her as your counsel home page. And so, from our home page, we're going to click on Dashboard Dashboard is where as a cloud administrator, I'm gonna spend some time here in dashboard because
06:02
I'm gonna come here often to see ah, some visibility, Thio how my resource is air being used. What resources? I have a little bit of service health, health monitoring. Um, and it's an easy one. Place one stop shop for me to learn about some of my new options and instances I might be spinning up.
06:20
Oh, our access tutorials off from this dashboard. So great
06:25
home landing page. If I Macleod administrator So example, I want to go in here and create a resource. Well, so you'll remember all those consul of those categories that we spend on that time talking about. Well, um, these are all our categories again. Here on all of the service's within the azure portfolio.
06:44
And so let's say from finish page now what I want to do is I want to either learn or actually start spinning up
06:49
a new Windows Server 2016 Data Center instance. Well, let's go ahead and access this tutorial. So if you are a Microsoft administrator, uhm and you're pretty savvy with Microsoft, you're going to do a lot of things from this thing called Power Shell Power Shell is a scripting
07:08
utility, so basically I can create scripts
07:11
so lines of code and it's quicker, faster. And then I apply those scripts into power shelled and then power shell pushes those commands out. Ah, and then I could spend a pre sources. Or if I like my graphic user interface and I like browsers. Well, I can spend stuff up from the azure portal. Or
07:30
maybe I'm old school and I really like command line interface is cli.
07:33
I can do so from CLI. So here's some quick starts and how I might spend up that new server 2016 Data Center instance from any three of these different options, Um, and then as I stepped through well Now let's go ahead and access through tutorial. And so
07:51
how do I want to create and connect of'em and select VMC new specific V EMS and re size of'em? Well,
07:58
here's how I can do so All with some power shell script. So it gives me some examples of what I can do to create a new resource group from from Power Shell and how I can create a new V M um, and how I can connect
08:16
to certain instances from Power Show. So some really great tutorials and really great examples of how I, as an administrator can either set up service is using azure console. The browser or power shell or command line interface is all here from our dashboard
08:35
good stuff.
08:37
So I'm into my as your dashboard and let's say that my organization needs to spend up a new e commerce Web application. And so I need to protect that new e Commerce Web application I needed spin up this thing called the Web application firewall. Well, I look through my vendor and my subscription and licensing agreements, and I don't have anything close
08:56
to a Web application firewall, so I need to buy one and spend it up
09:01
and the azure cloud. So I'm gonna do so from this place called the Marketplace. So I'm gonna scroll here,
09:07
and these are all of the different marketplace portals that I can go to a cross. My azure portfolio will. I'm a security guy, so I'm gonna spend up this WAP waft Web application firewall. So I'm gonna go ahead and click on Maur and Insecurity. This is where I can
09:26
spend up that Web application firewall. But I got a couple of different tiers. So let's say I need to be compliant.
09:31
So I want to do some level of compliance and make sure I get those compliance and regulatory checks. And so I'm going to be looking at the top 20 or top 25 checks to make sure that my new Web application firewall is in line with a with proper security and best practice testing. So
09:50
we're gonna use the A WASP Open Web application security project
09:54
as my guideline, and then I would spin up a no WASP ready and compliant Web application firewall or well, I don't really care about that. I don't have complaints issues. I just need to be quick and spry and agile and spend up a Web application firewall without complaints, concerns.
10:11
So how am I going to do that? Well, I'm gonna go down here
10:15
to the security and protection screen, And so now I'm going to scroll down and here's my Baracoa waft as a service. So the wife of a service, this allows me to first of all, select my different size instances. So the wafa size but the number of Web applications
10:33
that I'm going to inspect and protect,
10:35
Um And so if I have a bunch of Web applications, well, I'm gonna choose a large instance. Or maybe I have a medium instance, but I have a really fat Internet pipe, so I'm gonna do a lot of inspection per second, and so I might need the medium plan. But with upgraded band with But in this case for demonstrations were just gonna quit. Go ahead and choose the small plan.
10:56
So we look at our different plans and pricing. So here's our pricing on what a Barracuda Web application firewall is gonna be per month on. Then, when I'm ready and I have reviewed my notes and I've looked at what we can do and how this is gonna help me. I'm gonna go ahead and click, create, and you'll remember
11:13
that when I'm ready to start my service in Azure. I have a $200 credit that I can use within my 1st 30 days of signing up.
11:22
Um And so whatever service I want to spin up, I'm gonna be able to use that $200 credit against my first months building. So we're gonna go ahead and start free. And then this is where I would start spinning up my instance
11:35
of my new web application. Firewall
11:39
Cool, huh?
11:41
Bullets as you're off to the races. So next time we get together, we're going to spend up some azure, compute some storage, and if we get lucky, maybe even a little bit of database. So until then, take care. Thanks so much for joining us on behalf of all of us at the Cyber Security Nightie Learning Team. Thank you. And happy packets
