Exercise 1 - Understanding Functions
Functions are named formulas built into Excel to help you perform all sorts of calculations. For examples, the SUM() function adds up values, and AVERAGE() takes an average. Excel has hundreds of built-in functions, and you can combine them in endless ways.
Exercise 2 - Moving and Copying Data
Excel provides many methods for moving and copying data. You can use the Cut and Paste commands to move, or the Copy and Paste commands to copy. All have convenient keyboard shortcuts, and if you prefer the mouse, you can move and copy without commands at all by dragging.
When you move a formula, Excel updates any references they contain relative to the new location of the formula.
Exercise 3 - Using MIN and MAX Functions
Excel has functions for almost any purpose you can imagine. In particular, it has an enormous variety of statistical and financial functions. You can choose a category in the Insert Function window to see the functions in that category, and of course, use the Help system to get information about any function.
