>> Hey everybody and welcome back.
00:00
In this lecture we're going to be
00:00
talking about API Gateway.
00:00
In this lecture, our learning objectives
00:00
are basically just to
00:00
understand what API Gateway
00:00
is and have you been able to describe them.
00:00
AWS API Gateway is a managed API endpoint.
00:00
This is a common thing that you see.
00:00
If there's any type of API communication or traffic
00:00
coming into your AWS environment,
00:00
you can think of API Gateway is like
00:00
the front door to receive
00:00
all of those requests coming in.
00:00
It supports REST and WebSockets protocols.
00:00
It supports containerized and serverless
00:00
workloads along with web applications.
00:00
It's something that we commonly see
00:00
whenever we're trying to secure our environment.
00:00
Because API Gateway has
00:00
some pretty great denial-of-service
00:00
mitigation security pieces to
00:00
this whole thing that really helps with
00:00
the security of your Cloud environment.
00:00
That's basically it. API Gateway
00:00
is just that it's managed,
00:00
so there's nothing really to do
00:00
except just turn it on and connect it.
00:00
But aside from that,
00:00
AWS really takes care of a lot of the front-end for you,
00:00
so I don't really have to worry about a lot.
00:00
That about wraps up.
00:00
In this lecture we just did
00:00
a quick summary of API Gateway.
00:00
Little introduction, gave you
00:00
a little high-level overview of some of the concepts you
00:00
need to know for this exam
00:00
but in a nutshell, that's basically it.
00:00
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.
00:00
If not, we'll go ahead and jump on to the next section.
00:00
Actually this is the last lecture
00:00
of this module. I'll see you there.
