Welcome the module. 3.4 g c. P Google Cloud Platforms. What. The end of 2018. G. C. P still had the reputation for catering to small businesses and start ups and until only recently has started to attract big business workloads. So we could only cover so much in this course and had to make a choice.
So we haven't been spending much lecture time on G C P.
But cyber is amazing. Teaching assistants have your students back, and they have developed tremendous G C P hands on labs and supplemental learning material that will help you braid your knowledge gap on Google Cloud Platform. But we're gonna go off the paved and beaten track in this module and learn a little bit about G, C, P and how Google
is doing in this crazy up and down and sideways motor crash track we call
the public cloud.
According to the industry research firm Catalysts, Google Cloud is the number three public cloud platform on the planet, and analysts are saying that it may be possible that another year the Chinese multinational conglomerate Alibaba and by some measures the world's biggest online commerce company could overtake Microsoft Azure for the number two spot,
which would put Google and the cloud platform in the number four spot.
But what is interesting from the analysts is, if you look at their annual growth of G C p year of a year, the Google Cloud Platform annual growth rate is the biggest in the space. And why is this? Because G. C P is finally attracting the enterprise customer and is winning very large enterprise contracts and thus resulting in tremendous year over your growth.
So when it comes to G, c p u, the student
better learn it, love it and know it.
So before we talk more about G. C. P, we need to talk about the trend that is happening in the marketplace. Cloud service is have been so successful and for so many enterprises and companies across the large and SMB small and medium business marketplace and across the verticals from commercial health care and financial to state and local governments and education,
the company's heir now multi cloud
multi cloud means that a company has more than one cloud and the cloud could be any mixture of private and public clouds. So what's interesting about this? Is that where before a company might only be using AWS Esther Public Cloud provider. Now the same organization can be using AWS for the public. Cloud Compute
Microsoft is your a d connect for their hybrid deployment of Microsoft and Azure Active Directory
and the Google Cloud platform purge tremendous capabilities with containers and software development frameworks. So it's a great, big, crazy motorcross, mud throwing and hill hopping race with hundreds of billions and cloud revenues at stake.
So why G c P. One of the things that sets the Google clown platform network apart from some of the other players is that the network is one of the biggest in the world. Not only is the G C P network one of the biggest and fastest fiber optic networks in the world, but it maintains a private distributed, which is a fancy way of saying multi path network, so you don't have single wire cut points of failure
to all of Google's data centers.
So there's a good chance that when you were talking and communicating over the Internet, it's not over the Internet, but actually the Google backbone.
So who doesn't like a good deal, and you have to be careful because pricing features technology well. These things are always changing and never static. But one of the reasons why there's been a very nice uptick in G C P Cloud adoption is that G. C P has just been playing cheaper than AWS and Azure, and some market analysts are saying that as much as 40 to 50% lower and cost
Justin Compute engine service is alone.
When we're saying cheaper, we don't just mean per minute or Pereira Lee pays you go rates. But in things like input output per second or I ops G. C P has been trending more I ups for less than many of its competitors. Another reason why G. C. P has been winning enterprise accounts is that because the cloud is where the market has been going, Google simply decided to double down and invest heavily in its cloud infrastructure.
Now, G. C. P s network is so big and so redundant
it offers the cloud consumer to offerings a premier tear in a standard turn network offer for their Google platforms. So, for example, if you choose your Google cloud platform to run in its premiere tear, the Premier tear network delivers traffic over Google's well provisioned, low latency, highly reliable global network with at least three independent paths
between any two locations on the Google Network,
you don't hear this very often in plus two redundancy rather than in plus one Rid entity. This you shares no service disruption practically never in a couple of Evers thrown in in plus two style Google Standard Tear Network delivers network quality comparable to that of other cloud providers, where it will deliver outbound traffic from G C P to the Internet
Internet service provider networks instead of Google's network. And thus the standard tear may not be as reliable, but it makes it a little bit cheaper.
So not all quote players play fair and play equally in another way. G C P Motorcross freestyle jumps. Many of its competitors is that it supports what it calls live migration, which is the process of moving a running virtual machine or application between physical machines without disconnecting the client or application.
This could be a really big deal because you offer your users no disruption of service
even though you are migrating your VM off of one host and moving it onto another server host so that you can perform maintenance and repairs on the originating host. Really cool stuff. And not all cloud players can freestyle jump their virtual machines across hosts or even across Cloud Network regions.
So even though Google entered the cloud market later than its competitors and until recently lacked the focus to draw an enterprise corporate customers Google has an amazing brain trust of technical expertise and has industry leading tools in deep learning and artificial intelligence, machine learning
and Data Analytics. And these benefits could end up being real game changers in significant advantages
that helped G. C P gain position in this crazy cloud obstacle course. Artificial intelligence and deep learning are still emerging technologies, but they're poised to become incredibly influential. And the near future artificial intelligence
is in the midst of a huge surge in popularity, and enterprises are becoming very interested in a I known as deep learning. According to Gartner Research A. I will have likely generated over 1.2 trillion in business value
for the enterprise by the end of 2018 and A I promises to be the most disruptive class of technologies during the next 10 years due to advances in computational power volume, velocity and the variety of data sets. In a nutshell. Artificial intelligence and deep learning involves teaching computers to think the way that human beings think.
This encompasses a wide variety of different applications like computer vision,
natural language processing and machine learning.
Machine learning is the subset of ai ai, because computers of their ability to get better at a task without being explicitly programmed enterprises use machine learning to power things like fraud detection by having the computer be able to think like the burglar thinks
an example of deep learning. A. I is computer vision, where Computer first learns to recognize the borders of an object than its shape than its features and then ultimately learns how to recognize a person by facial recognition. The Google Brain Trust and their digital scientists are all up in this aye aye machine learning and deep computer learning engine race track
and are in the pole position to perhaps not only lead development in a I,
but change the way we use computers in ways not even artificial intelligences thought of. Yet the Google Cloud platform is the fastest growing cloud provider platform on the market, and G. C P is slated to be an innovator and technology disruptor well into the future. If you want to be successful in the cloud, G, C P needs to be part of your learning curriculum
and business acumen.
So now you crazy cloud cyborgs. It's time for that deep machine learning check.
What is multi cloud architecture?
What is the difference between Google's premier tear and standard tear cloud networks?
What is live migration and why is it so much better than dead migration?
And what is the difference between machine learning and deep learning and artificial intelligence? So go sit in the corner of the lab and spend some CPU cycles learning from your mistakes. Then I want you to predict what my answers are going to be and then build three more correct answers for each question. Because we have to be Google's network
with our own N plus three redundancy and then when you're a I fully redundant, full mesh network is built,

Fantastic then. So multi cloud architecture is the going forward network architecture for the marketplace.
I have just one cloud when you can have several and spread out that cloud bill across multiple private and public cloud providers.
But if you're actually on a private cloud, well, you would be building yourself. But what do we know? We haven't turned on Google's machine learning yet. Google's premiered here Network is a low latent see high bandwith, fully redundant in plus two fiber network service. Seeing its cloud platform customers standard tear uses transit I S P s instead of the Google Network,
so it might not be as redundant,
but you get what you're in minus seven. Network pays for live migration is moving an active virtual machine from one physical computer host to another even in different data centers and sometimes even in across cloud provider regions with no disruption of service, dead migration is what happens to your I t career When you're live, migration fails to work
and machine learning is when a computer learns to perform better and deep learning
is with each step in the learning process. The computer learned even more about its environment through computer modeling. A. I learned and understands what your face looks like. And even though you're funny looking, the computer learns to forgive you and learns how to beat you in chess.

So today we talked about multi cloud architecture and the amazing and blazing fast premier tear network of G, C, P. And even though Google entered later into the cloud game and hasn't played well in enterprise until recently, G. C P is emerging with record growth
and is being a real leader in the cloud space through innovation and creation and artificial intelligence.
A. I is guaranteed to be the most disruptive technology over the next decade, and it's a good bet that Google and its cloud platform will be a leader in market disruption as well.
