Overview

Introduction

The Mapping Networks module provides you with the instructions and devices to develop your hands-on skills in the following topic:

  • Working with network diagrams
  • Install and Configure ManageEngine OpManager

Lab time: It will take approximately 30 minutes to complete this lab.

Objectives

The following objective is covered in this lab:

  • Scanning networks

Exercise 1 - Working with Network Diagrams

Network mapping is the process of identifying or discovering the physical connectivity of computers in the network. You can perform network mapping with the help of Network Management Software (NMS). You can administer, monitor, manage, and scan the network using NMS. The visual network maps or diagrams provide help in the network mapping process. You can use the network topology mapper to automatically plot the network.

In this exercise, you will work with Zenmap utility to obtain a graphic representation of the devices in the network. You will also work with ManageEngine OpManager application to demonstrate the mapping of network.

Exercise 2 - Install and Configure ManageEngine OpManager

ManageEngine OpManager is a network-monitoring tool. It facilitates network, server, network configuration, IP address, and other types of management. It also helps in network traffic analysis.
