Welcome to the Handling Event Practice Lab. In this module you will be provided with the instructions and devices needed to develop your hands-on skills.
The following exam objective is covered in this lab:
- 4.2 Identify and handle HTML events
It will take approximately 20 minutes to complete this lab.
Exercise 1 - Handling Events
Events are actions that take place whenever there is an activity associated with an HTML element at runtime. The activity can be user or browser initiated. For example, loading of a web page in a browser is an event or an action that the browser performs. This is a browser-initiated activity. If a button is clicked on the page, then it becomes a user-initiated activity.
There are many events that you can include in your web pages such as:
- Loading of an image
- The clicking of a button
- Moving the mouse over an element
- Submitting an HTML form
- Resetting the values in an HTML form
- Pressing of a key on the keyboard
What should ideally happen when an event takes place? Well, there should be some output associated with the event. Here, the concept of event handlers comes into the picture.
For example, you want to load an image on the click of a button. The code to load the image is written in a user-defined function, say loadimg(). The event handler for the click event will be onclick. The syntax to write the HTML code is as follows:
All the HTML events have their own event handlers. Some of the event handlers are onclick, onmouseover, onmouseout, onload, onkeydown, etc.
- Task 1 - You will download the Visual Studio Code workspace (Calculator) from the Intranet and create a new HTML page named Events.html in the Calculator workspace.
After completing this exercise, you will be able to:
IT & Cybersecurity certification hands on practice labs and practice exams for certifications and skill development.
