>> Hey, everybody and welcome to this course on Cybrary on
00:00
the AWS Certified Solution Architect Associate.
00:00
Let's go ahead and dive into this lesson,
00:00
this introduction that we're doing here.
00:00
We're going to be getting started in a few minutes.
00:00
We'll be kicking off the course officially,
00:00
but before we do,
00:00
I wanted to go through some learning objectives
00:00
on the overall course.
00:00
That's what really this video is going to be about.
00:00
We're going to be summarizing the course syllabus,
00:00
the goals, identifying prerequisites for the course.
00:00
Then we'll do a little get to know me as the instructor.
00:00
Then talk about what you need to
00:00
do and know about to prepare.
00:00
Let's start off by talking
00:00
about why you want to take this course.
00:00
AWS is the fastest-growing public Cloud provider
00:00
out there when
00:00
we're comparing to Microsoft Azure and to Google Cloud.
00:00
Few others out there but AWS is the largest,
00:00
fastest-growing, and a lot of companies use them so
00:00
they are a great Cloud provider
00:00
to begin your career with.
00:00
This course is going to prepare you
00:00
for everything you need to know in order to
00:00
pass the Solution Architect Associate certification exam.
00:00
This certification is going to help pave
00:00
a way for your career in AWS,
00:00
but also other certifications
00:00
that you might want to obtain in the future.
00:00
Let me go ahead and introduce myself.
00:00
My name is Nicholas Moy, you can call me Nick.
00:00
My specialty is in Cloud security
00:00
and application security.
00:00
I've worked as an advisor in some DevSecOps environments.
00:00
I'm a senior instructor here at Cybrary,
00:00
where it's each Cloud security.
00:00
You can find me online or at YouTube,
00:00
or on Twitter, or on LinkedIn.
00:00
The prerequisites for this course are
00:00
to have some knowledge on IT concepts,
00:00
some general stuff like how does an IT system work?
00:00
How does networking work?
00:00
Things like that. Then it
00:00
would be helpful for you to have
00:00
some knowledge and familiarity with Cloud concepts.
00:00
If you don't have that,
00:00
a great course that you could start with is
00:00
the AWS Certified Cloud practitioner course
00:00
that we offer here on Cybrary as well.
00:00
If you feel like you want that intro,
00:00
be sure to check that course out before diving
00:00
into this one because that's
00:00
actually the natural progression.
00:00
You start off with the club practitioner and then
00:00
typically go into the Solution Architect Associate.
00:00
The syllabus for this course,
00:00
they're going to be as follows,
00:00
we are going to be starting off with
00:00
getting started module.
00:00
Then we're going to be talking about
00:00
the intro to AWS landscape,
00:00
which is a lot larger than Module 1.
00:00
There we'll be talking about
00:00
some fundamental Cloud concepts,
00:00
the well-architected framework,
00:00
the AWS architecture,
00:00
how the Cloud even is able to be what it is.
00:00
Then we're going to dive into Module 3,
00:00
which is identity and access management.
00:00
We'll be talking about EC2 and Module 4.
00:00
Then there's a good portion on EC2 storage where
00:00
we're talking about how to utilize that or protect it.
00:00
Very important concepts there.
00:00
In Module 7, we'll be talking about Amazon S3.
00:00
Then we'll be diving into Amazon VPCs,
00:00
which is Virtual Private Cloud.
00:00
Then we're going to be talking about Route 53, DNS,
00:00
and then we'll talk on a myriad
00:00
of AWS services for development purposes.
00:00
Just all lots of good stuff, securities,
00:00
lot of random things in there
00:00
that you'll see on the exam,
00:00
but maybe not see a lot of.
00:00
We dropped it all into one module.
00:00
Then in the last module,
00:00
we'll be talking about securing
00:00
Cloud architectures in AWS.
00:00
For the certification, this is actually the badge
00:00
that you're going to receive when you pass the exam,
00:00
you get to put this on your LinkedIn profile,
00:00
your resume. Pretty cool stuff.
00:00
The average salary for somebody that has this here in
00:00
the United States is $130,000 a year.
00:00
This is a little bit
00:00
depending on what experience you have.
00:00
If you've never done IT before,
00:00
you're not likely to get that salary,
00:00
but you're going to get a pretty good salary.
00:00
I've seen people start off
00:00
with like 70 or $80,000 a year,
00:00
which is pretty good compared to a lot of
00:00
other industries and with starting pays.
00:00
But if you do have IT experience,
00:00
you are likely to see a promotion.
00:00
I did see after getting
00:00
my class certification within a few months,
00:00
I was able to break six figures.
00:00
It is definitely possible for anybody to do that,
00:00
especially if you're based here in United States.
00:00
There are endless job opportunities as
00:00
well for people that work in the Cloud.
00:00
Last I looked, there was 42 or
00:00
48,000 job openings or
00:00
something like that across the United States for jobs.
00:00
Lots of varying positions from Cloud security to Cloud
00:00
solutioning to QA jobs
00:00
in the Cloud and the Cloud Developer jobs.
00:00
There's just all kinds of stuff,
00:00
so check it out.
00:00
Go on Indeed or any of those job boards that you like,
00:00
go to your favorite job board and
00:00
take a look and see what's out there,
00:00
see what you might be interested in,
00:00
learn what they're looking for.
00:00
The Solution Architect Associate Certification is
00:00
a good general certification to start with.
00:00
It's like one of those that it's not really foundational,
00:00
but it'll help you look attractive to employers.
00:00
You could tag on whatever specialty certifications
00:00
you want to afterwards.
00:00
It looks really good on your resume.
00:00
Be sure to take a look around,
00:00
start planning your career,
00:00
start planning your future.
00:00
Be sure to complete this course and get the certification
00:00
because it's definitely going to be well worth it.
00:00
There's just so much job opportunities,
00:00
so much potential in getting AWS certified. Good stuff.
00:00
This exam is taken online or in a testing center.
00:00
I know for a lot of you out there who
00:00
are living in restricted COVID areas,
00:00
do what's safe for you.
00:00
If you need to take it online, you can do that.
00:00
That's the beauty of it.
00:00
You have that option, but if you prefer to
00:00
take it in the testing center if you're like one of
00:00
those people that helps you get in the mode and
00:00
the mental state that
00:00
you need to be in to take your exam,
00:00
you have that option as well.
00:00
Just make sure you're staying safe,
00:00
check the precautions and stuff on the testing center.
00:00
Make sure you follow those so that you're all good to
00:00
go before jumping into your exam.
00:00
Here are the domain breakdowns for this exam,
00:00
24 percent is going to make up designing
00:00
secure applications and architectures,
00:00
18 percent for application data and host security,
00:00
30 percent for designing resilient architectures,
00:00
and 28 percent for
00:00
designing high performing architectures.
00:00
Lots of architecture stuff here,
00:00
which sounds complicated, but it's really not.
00:00
Once you get through it,
00:00
you're going to really appreciate it.
00:00
What we're learning here is how to mesh
00:00
these core AWS services together to
00:00
do really cool things and how to do it securely,
00:00
how to do it with resilience so it doesn't fall,
00:00
so that your data doesn't become unavailable.
00:00
Just good stuff like that.
00:00
We're going to learn a lot more about
00:00
this as we go along throughout
00:00
this course. I'm excited.
00:00
In this course, there
00:00
are several materials you get to leverage,
00:00
so you're going have the syllabus.
00:00
It's like your overarching guide.
00:00
Then you're going to have the official exam guide,
00:00
which is offered by AWS.
00:00
We're going to offer several labs that
00:00
you can use to practice.
00:00
We're going to have assessments to quiz you.
00:00
Then we'll have whitepaper references which
00:00
I refer to even today when I'm not preparing for an exam.
00:00
Professionally, as an architect,
00:00
you're going to want to leverage the white papers to
00:00
always bring yourself back to the principles,
00:00
the things that we need
00:00
to leverage as professionals that work in the Cloud.
00:00
This is the nature of the Cloud.
00:00
The more you do this,
00:00
the easier it gets.
00:00
You start to remember these principles,
00:00
but it's always good to go back to.
00:00
Sometimes the principles change as the Cloud changes,
00:00
which is all the time.
00:00
It's always good to refer to them.
00:00
We're going to have several here
00:00
that we're going to introduce to you.
00:00
I highly recommend that you review them, read through it.
00:00
You don't have to memorize it,
00:00
but you do need to be familiar
00:00
with it because you're going to see
00:00
some questions on the exam that are going to
00:00
bring you back to those white papers
00:00
and it's good to know what you're looking at.
00:00
To summarize here, we did a course intro.
00:00
We talked about the exam domains,
00:00
review the breakdown of the various domains,
00:00
we talked about the exam structure,
00:00
we did a review on the syllabus,
00:00
introduced myself as the instructor,
00:00
then we also talked about the benefits of
00:00
this course and getting the certification.
00:00
I hope you're excited,
00:00
we're right about out of time for this lesson.
00:00
Let's go ahead and dive into the next one.
00:00
We're going to talk about preparing for
00:00
success and then we're going to dive
00:00
into the course itself. I'll see you there.
