Gateway Load Balancing In this lesson we look at Gateway Load Balancing, our first type of Hot Standby Routing Protocol. We'll explore what happens when a connection host is just sitting in stand-by status. You'll also learn why GLPP routers send Hello's to what groups, with what frequency and why. We'll explain the concept of actual virtual forwarding and demonstrate for example how it works, what router returns their own MAC address and which routers those MAC addresses belong to.
