>> Well congratulations, you've done awesome work getting
00:00
through the entire size
00:00
of domains that we've just covered,
00:00
so give yourself a big pat on the back.
00:00
This module that we're going to cover now won't introduce
00:00
any new material but will help
00:00
you prepare for your exam, so let's begin.
00:00
What we'll cover is basically organizing the exam itself.
00:00
What happens within the exam,
00:00
so a little bit about what to expect.
00:00
Some preparation tips before the exam,
00:00
on the day of the exam and after the exam,
00:00
how to apply for your size of
00:00
certification and retaining your size of certification.
00:00
Putting all that hard work to good use.
00:00
Let's begin. Organizing the exam.
00:00
Basically it's all fits throughout the year.
00:00
It will vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction,
00:00
so there'll be different testing windows
00:00
depending upon where you are.
00:00
The best idea would be to check
00:00
the ISACA website for any local conditions,
00:00
a local testing centers that you need to follow.
00:00
Basically, next step would be to pay
00:00
your application and registration fees.
00:00
At that stage, you will receive an admission ticket,
00:00
which will get you into the exam.
00:00
Now, the exam itself consists of 150 questions
00:00
they're multiple choice and you have
00:00
four hours to complete them.
00:00
The questions will be derived from job practice analysis,
00:00
so they should be relevant to
00:00
the day-to-day job of
00:00
a certified information systems auditor.
00:00
Now, the scores you receive will be
00:00
scaled and you should receive anywhere
00:00
between 200-800 and a final score
00:00
of 450 is required to pass.
00:00
Certainly with the number of
00:00
questions you have and the scaling,
00:00
there is no realistic way that you'll be able to
00:00
understand exactly what you get at the end.
00:00
Basically, it will all be graded and scored,
00:00
but you just hope to get for obviously above 450.
00:00
Before the exam, primarily read
00:00
the ISACA exam candidate
00:00
information guide that will contain
00:00
the most up-to-date information
00:00
about what you need to know
00:00
for taking the exam and being an ISACA candidate.
00:00
Become familiar with the size
00:00
of job practice areas because
00:00
these will be represented very heavily within the exam.
00:00
Then you need to self-assess,
00:00
and then when you've done that self-assess some more,
00:00
so it's very important that you review
00:00
and you get really comfortable with the material.
00:00
The best thing to do is obviously avoid cramming and just
00:00
take the exam when you know that you are ready,
00:00
and so that can be through this course,
00:00
through any other training materials
00:00
that you may come across.
00:00
But the idea is to gain confidence that
00:00
you're comfortable with each of these areas.
00:00
Also bear in mind that ISACA will
00:00
give you the option to postpone your exam.
00:00
If you feel that you're
00:00
not ready when you're coming up to it,
00:00
there's certainly no shame in acknowledging
00:00
that and pushing it back
00:00
a couple of months until you know you're ready.
00:00
There are some things that you can help,
00:00
obviously is finding a study group and
00:00
certainly if you joined on ISACA chapter,
00:00
often cases the chapter will run study groups which
00:00
will help candidates get through their exams.
00:00
Make sure you know where your admission ticket is,
00:00
that will require you to get into the exam room,
00:00
do a logistics check,
00:00
and just ensure that you've got everything that you
00:00
need ready to go for that exam day,
00:00
make sure you pack that the night before
00:00
and obviously get some sleep.
00:00
Now, one thing to note too,
00:00
and this can vary depending on
00:00
jurisdiction to jurisdiction,
00:00
some exams may be held virtually or prompted virtually.
00:00
The case of the COVID and
00:00
the pandemic in certain areas have closed exam centers,
00:00
so this may still be the case within your area.
00:00
However, refer to the ISACA website
00:00
and that will determine as to whether
00:00
you actually have in a testing center to attend
00:00
or you can indeed take the exam virtually.
00:00
Now also before the exam,
00:00
one thing that I can't really recommend
00:00
enough invest in a testing engine.
00:00
These basically will give you
00:00
an idea of exactly what type
00:00
of questions that you'll have
00:00
often cases and some testing
00:00
engine that will be written by
00:00
ISACA and they will be
00:00
actual questions that were previously used in the exam.
00:00
The important aspect here is it's not so much just
00:00
about the knowledge that you need for the exam,
00:00
but it's also understanding the methodology
00:00
that ISACA use to phrase the questions,
00:00
and that can really only come from doing practice tests.
00:00
This will also give you confidence that you
00:00
know your material well enough to take your exam.
00:00
If you do need to purchase any materials,
00:00
this would be certainly high on
00:00
my list of recommendations.
00:00
Now, on the day of the exam, arrive early,
00:00
you just don't want to be rushing,
00:00
so make sure you give yourself plenty of time.
00:00
Observe the test center rules,
00:00
so this can vary from location to location.
00:00
Answering the exam questions,
00:00
just take your time and rely on your preparation.
00:00
After the exam, you will immediately
00:00
receive a preliminary pass or fail.
00:00
This will be genuinely what your actual score will be,
00:00
however, it's not officially
00:00
endorsed by ISACA at this point.
00:00
Your official results arrive within a few weeks,
00:00
but you should know walking out into the exam room,
00:00
exactly what score you have.
00:00
At that point, you can then apply for certification.
00:00
To apply for the ISACA size of certification,
00:00
you obviously need you're passing
00:00
score and related work experience.
00:00
The score is valid for five years,
00:00
so bear in mind that if you don't quite have
00:00
the work experience necessary,
00:00
you can still take your exam and keep working and gain
00:00
that experience and still be able to
00:00
apply for your certification when you've obtained that.
00:00
All work experience that you identify needs to be
00:00
relatively recent with at least within the last 10 years.
00:00
Retaining your size of certification,
00:00
you've worked hard to get there
00:00
and you want to make sure that you keep it.
00:00
You need to undertake some continuing education.
00:00
This will basically give you CPE credits
00:00
or continuing professional education credits,
00:00
which will enable you to put them against
00:00
your ISACA profile and
00:00
maintain your qualification throughout the life cycle.
00:00
Your ISACA website that you login into will give you
00:00
the assistance we're tracking and
00:00
submitting your CPE information.
00:00
Just a couple of additional points to note,
00:00
you do have a CPE maintenance fees,
00:00
so this needs to be paid yearly
00:00
to maintain your certification.
00:00
If you don't meet your CPEs,
00:00
there is a possibility that
00:00
your certification could be revoked.
00:00
That's the end of our lesson.
00:00
We've talked a bit about organizing the exam,
00:00
the exam itself before and after the exam,
00:00
how to apply for the size of certification,
00:00
and how to retain your size of certification.
00:00
Good luck everyone, I hope you've enjoyed this course
00:00
and I wish you very well in your coming exams.
