all right. Hello and welcome to command line basics. This video This is our conclusion to the course, and we're gonna go over in touch with everything we've learned so far and how we can use it. I'm Christopher Heller and let's begin.
So we're learning objectives for this video When I go over about how to open the command line, asking for help navigating the file system at the CLI, using these common Seelye tools to perform these times him task and chanting together commands.
So opening the command line, This is something we've learned where we're using it, to interact with the system directly from the CLI. And it's very similar to open it from the Lennox and from windows as well. So I need to be comfortable with this and should be very easy to use
asking for help. This is something that we talked about a lot and is such a critical part of using the C. L. I. Absolutely nobody remembers everything from the command line. Nobody remembers every switch for every command, and I am close that leave looking at the help or the manuals for different commands, and
you absolutely need to use the Internet for research, asking for help,
looking for how do you Ah, you know, manipulate different strings or manipulate different commands of order, become effective and to be able to do what you need to do from the command line.
And like we were saying before, it is so important to be able to ask for help and read the documentation.
Now I'm getting the file system. Hopefully, you're very comfortable doing this. It's the same exact file system that you see in the gooey. And we're going to use the change directory that during the L S commands in order to move through the different folder structures and be able to see what's inside of each folder and the different types of files and how we can use them
and using the sea life for time saving task. First of all, you know, we need to accomplish our identify what we need to accomplish, and then, after getting this exposure for all these different tools, you need to make sure you're using the correct tool for the job
and then beyond that, need to sort through the output from these tools and be ableto look through and identify what we need for the output.
And we can pipe these together, use different commands together, right or bad scripts, right? Our shells groups, and you get what we need to be done very quickly and effectively
changing together commands, pipe commands together, used the ampersand, used the different redirection operations. And we can, you know, save so much time using these different techniques in order to search through the output of commands, pipe together, execute different things together
and become very effective at what we do.
Save so much time using the command line instead of the gooey.
And we also have additional resource is for three command life. I highly recommend looking at other cyber videos. If you enjoy this one specifically, if you're not very comfortable with Lennox, I highly recommend looking at the Lenox Plus videos so you can learn more about that and how to use it as you grow within your cybersecurity career.
The Lenox manuals are so important as well as you using Lennix commands. It's very, very critical to read through the manuals, take your time, understand exactly how these commands work, and usually they have some very excellent documentation.
The sands cheat sheets are very useful and gives really good information about how to use thes commands. And you know, the most common types of us witches or uses for these commands as well. And I highly recommend printing them out now, highlighting you know, the specific areas you're going to use the most.
And like I said, the Internet is such a great resource for everything else. If you don't know how the specific command works or you need to look up more information, I highly recommend using the Internet searching, looking on Google and using that for what you need to do.
So in this video, we touched on how to open the command line again. How to ask for help at the terminal? Why help? It's so important. Understand how to navigate the file system with CLI
using the common seal. I'd tools to perform time saving task and chaining together commands, And I'm so glad that you chose to take my course and I hope to see you in future side. Very videos later
