Hi.
00:01
You are watching model for the Sphere networking and storage lesson for configuring I p based storage.
00:09
In this video, we'll configure I scuzzy and NFS to have access to shared storage that we will need later on. In the course.
00:18
Let's go to the center.
00:20
We'll start by configuring an ice cosy software adapter on each of our yes, excited lists. Because the physical adapters in the two servers are not nice cosy H B A's and thus do not support ice cosy encapsulation.
00:34
To create a software ice cosy, click on an yes excite house, then choose configure and then storage adapters.
00:42
Then click on add software and Outer
00:45
intellect. Software Ice Causey thing Click. Okay,
00:50
the adaptor will appear in the middle Pain
00:53
Search for the DMH. Be a next to which you can read ice cosy.
00:58
This is the one.
01:00
Click on it and go to the bottom pain and search for the dynamic discovery time.
01:04
Click on that,
01:07
and here we are going to configure a nice cosy target to connect, to
01:11
click the add button
01:14
and type in the I P address off your eyes because he target.
01:17
In my case, it's 17 to 20.0 dot 100.
01:23
Leave the port number two the default and click. Okay,
01:26
you will get a warning telling you to re scan your adapter for new storage devices.
01:32
Well, we do that shortly.
01:34
Next. We need to specify what, Vivian? Colonel Port. We are going to bind our software. Eyes cause the adapter to
01:41
remember any traffic generated by SX. I must use of'em colonel ports to get outside.
01:49
Storage is no exception. So I scuzzy traffic can use the management fee. Um, Colonel, So we are going to bind our ice cosy adapter to the management. I am colonel, under the network Reports of Binding Tab.
02:01
So click on that tab and click the button,
02:07
then select the management fee. Um, colonel and click. Okay,
02:10
Once our network configuration is done, we need to scan the adapter to launch the discovery off new storage devices. So click on the re scan at after button,
02:22
wait for a few seconds,
02:24
and it's done.
02:25
If you navigate to the devices stab, you can see that it discovered a 16 gigabyte ice cosy disc.
02:38
Now, let's repeat the exact same steps for the second years. Excite host because it also needs to access the same storage device to create a shared data store.
02:47
So I'm gonna go through the process quickly.
02:52
And when it discovers the same ice cosy disk, we are now ready to create a shared data store.
03:00
To do so, head on to the data store town,
03:02
right, click the data center, object and choose story,
03:07
then create a new data story.
03:09
This is a block based story. It's so true. Zvi M s
03:14
name your data store. I'm gonna name it Shared Ice Cosy Data Store.
03:21
And since the disc, we are going to use its visible toe. Both hosts Choose any off the two hosts in the list
03:28
and it will appear
03:30
selected and hit next
03:32
for the V. M. F s version, choose the latest version.
03:38
If you want a partition, the disc, go ahead and use the cursor to reduce its size as you please.
03:45
Otherwise, use the entire space
03:49
for the block size. Even though there is a selection next to it, you can't actually change it.
03:53
The default block size in B. M. F s six is one megabyte. It is not configurable, but it will expand automatically to 512 megabytes if you are storing large files.
04:06
Space reclamation is a big future off GM Oppa's six,
04:11
and it will attempt to reclaim unused blocks when data is deleted from inside against operating system of the virtual machine. So leave everything to the default and click. Next,
04:23
review the summary and hit finish.
04:27
It will take a few seconds,
04:29
and then your new shared data store will appear in the inventory.
04:33
If you click on it, you can see information about capacity and used space, et cetera.
04:41
No, let's create an an F s data store.
04:44
Head onto the data store tab, right, click the data center, object and choose new data store.
04:50
This time in the data store type select NFS,
04:55
there are two versions.
04:56
Version 4.1 is the most recent and most secure,
05:00
but version three is still widely used in the sphere because it supports storage. DRS. Among other advanced features that are not yet available with version for that one.
05:12
So select treasure three and hit. Next.
05:15
I'm gonna name the data store NFS Dash Data Store.
05:19
Next, specify the path to the shared partition on the NFS server. In my case, it's forward slash NFs
05:28
then enter the I P address off the NFS server
05:32
and at the bottom left. It gives you the possibility to mount this NFS chair as freed only. But in our case, we won't read right access because we will be storing virtual machine data on it.
05:46
Next select the SX I hosts that will mount this data store.
05:49
In our case, we want both ears Excite hosts to have access to this state of store. So select both
05:58
refute this summering and hit finish
06:00
and thirties listed in the inventory.
06:04
We now have two shared data stores that can be accessed by both Yes, Excite House.
06:11
And we will need this for the upcoming model.
06:14
Thanks for watching.
