>> Welcome back to the Cybrary course
00:00
in building your InfoSec Lab.
00:00
I'm your host and instructor, Kevin Hernandez.
00:00
On our last lesson, we downloaded and installed
00:00
ESXi into a lab utilizing a tool called Rufus.
00:00
Rufus basically allowed us
00:00
configuring or manipulating this ISO into
00:00
a bootable drive in which our system was
00:00
able to read S equals a CD or DVD.
00:00
In today's lesson, we'll
00:00
have a brief introduction to ESXi.
00:00
Also, we'll apply our ESXi License into our system.
00:00
Let's get started. Now the first thing to do,
00:00
just log in ESXi.
00:00
Just come here, route and the password.
00:00
Your prompt will do this [inaudible]
00:00
only the first time you're putting in.
00:00
Basically, it's joining the
00:00
community experience improvement program.
00:00
I'll decline. Now, once you get to here,
00:00
you will see basically a dashboard
00:00
with most of the information regarding your server.
00:00
Here you have the version of your ESXi.
00:00
Here you can see my ISP provider.
00:00
How many days it's been up.
00:00
I guess it's been around six days since I installed it.
00:00
You can also see
00:00
the CPU memory and storage usage for your machine.
00:00
Down here on hardware, you can see
00:00
a little bit more details regarding
00:00
your CPU configuration, your model, etc.
00:00
If you scroll along here,
00:00
you can see give or take the amount of
00:00
CPU and memory usage by the system.
00:00
Now, since we have no installs,
00:00
this looks very stable.
00:00
However, as we add
00:00
more appliances and these become more dynamic,
00:00
you might see this varied according to time.
00:00
Right here in the bottom, you'll see
00:00
the recent task, the server I've taken.
00:00
In this case, you can see it
00:00
>> basically perform a update.
00:00
>> Now that you have familiarized
00:00
yourself with the dashboard,
00:00
let's register this device.
00:00
In other words, let's install or apply
00:00
the license key that we got when we
00:00
downloaded the system into our product.
00:00
In order to achieve that, let's
00:00
go right here into the manage tab.
00:00
Now let's go to licensing.
00:00
Right here, you'll see your current situation,
00:00
and right here, you'll see
00:00
that Assign a License to your software.
00:00
Let's click it and let's copy-paste our license key.
00:00
Now I have put a little sticky note
00:00
>> in order to cover my license.
00:00
>> But basically, once you paste your license,
00:00
you will click the Check License [inaudible] .
00:00
The system will validate that
00:00
the license is indeed valid.
00:00
Let's assign. Once assigned, you can see
00:00
your actual key right here,
00:00
where these little icons are
00:00
appearing and you can see the expiration date is
00:00
never compared to the big block
00:00
of data that we saw earlier.
00:00
You can also notice that down here in task,
00:00
you will also see that license
00:00
being updated and applied to our system.
00:00
Now that our license is applied,
00:00
we can start building our lab.
00:00
First, we will start installing
00:00
our NextGen Firewall, pfSense.
00:00
Afterwards, we will start installing
00:00
several applications based on the requirement and
00:00
total allocation of resources
00:00
>> available on our system.
00:00
>> What have we learned today?
00:00
>> We familiarized ourself with ESXi's dashboard.
00:00
We also applied our license into our system.
00:00
In our next lesson, we will be
00:00
installing our NextGen Firewall.
00:00
As mentioned earlier, this will be pfSense.
00:00
Hope to see you soon. Have a great day.
