00:00
hi and welcome back to the course. I hope all of you are doing well. And if you recall in our previous video, we went over installing our I. D. E and setting up our programming environment. And in this video we are gonna be creating our very first Java program.
00:20
And that's just to give you a taste of what Java is and how it works along with the I d. Just weak and start we just installed and just making you used to the environment. Now, before we dive into the actual lab itself, I would like to discuss a very important component
00:38
to our software development.
00:40
Called a J D. K
00:43
a. J D. K. Or Java Development Kit is a key component, or factor into a platform for building job applications. It is most commonly known as a compiler. Now, most of you might not know what a compiler is. But a compiler is essentially just a program that takes your
01:02
computer
01:03
code that you have just written and translates that into machine code so that the computer can understand,
01:10
read and execute the instructions in your program. It's essentially just a translator. Think of it as a translator, taking your code and translating it to machine code for the computer to use and understand and execute.
01:27
Now a J T. K is crucial to developing Java applications and it comes along with all the twos and necessary that you need for softer development in Java,
01:38
and it also provides a minimal amount of requirements to compile or run Java programs.
01:46
Now, at this moment, I would like you to go ahead
01:49
and
01:51
open up the wide manual in the supplemental sources if you already haven't. And if you don't have it open, you can feel free to follow along with me over here.
02:02
But for this lab over here we will
02:05
ah, being creating our first programme. As I mentioned in Java, Um, and we will be simply printing out a word or a sentence to something called a consul in our idea and tell E J
02:16
and the requirements to complete this lab or the following. We need to have an I d installed and we also need to have a J d. K along with that.
02:28
Now, if you haven't watched the previous video or have it installed, the I D. Please go ahead and do that first. And if you have already done so let's go ahead and click on this link over here underneath the Java Development Kid title. And here are the steps that you,
02:46
uh, we'll be able to follow along with me
02:49
in the lab.
02:52
So once we click on, actually, let's open the link in a new tab.
03:00
So I'm gonna go ahead and
03:02
copy this link.
03:08
Okay?
03:09
So once you arrived on this web page,
03:14
click on except license Agreement. Now, this Web page will allow us to download our JD cake on the left side. You can see all of the operating systems, select your respective one and click on the download link. Now, in my case, I am running windows,
03:31
and I'm gonna be clicking on this link over here that says J. D. Kate
03:35
eight you to a one Windows X 64.
03:40
Okay,
03:43
now, keep in mind. I already have a J. D. K installed for myself, but I'm just taking you through the entire process. So once you download, click and run
04:00
now, let it download, and it'll take a few minutes, if not seconds shortly. And, um, this part of the lab is just basically ost only of J D. K. Which will help us in reading un compiling our job, a code that we discussed previously. And
04:19
the slide.
04:21
Once we have that downloaded, we will move on to intelligent and actually writing our first program in Java.
04:31
I'm going back to the lab manual after
04:35
Ah, oui.
04:36
Have downloaded the J. D. K eight Paul, but wizard will most likely appear on we're just gonna be following that and clicking next to finish the installation of
04:48
that J. D. K.
04:53
Case. That should be opening up any second now.
04:56
So you should be receiving a pop up and just go ahead and click Yes, on that.
05:02
So, since it's already has been installed in my computer, um, I can either reinstall it or not, but to demonstrate the installation process, I will reinstall it. So I'll click. Yes,
05:15
and then just ignore these initial steps because that's just for me, since I already have it installed.
05:24
Okay, so when you click on the JD Kate, this is the wizard that pops up. Go ahead and click next on each step
05:33
that will install the J. D. K for you.
05:41
Now, once that is complete, just go ahead and click close.
05:46
No. Once you have clicked close, I would like you to open up intelli J on my right side I have intelligent they opened up. But for you you will be seeing this screen over here
06:00
when you open up Intelli J. That is only because I have already created a project and you will be creating your first project.
06:09
Now, once you come on this screen, go ahead and click. Create new project. This will take you
06:15
to another, um,
06:18
pop up books which I can show you what it will look like.
06:23
So if you go and find new and project,
06:27
you will be landing on this window right here after clicking, creating new project. Now, if you notice it says 1.8 up here that is specifying the version of art J. D. K. And that is essentially why we downloaded r J D cases that we can put it together with our i d. E
06:46
and then write code and run or programs.
06:50
Now, once you have clicked next here,
06:55
go ahead and click next and give your project a name. So I'm gonna name this, um, lab
07:02
one
07:03
and click finish.
07:06
And also the file path over here. You can modify that, but I'm just gonna leave that as the default file path.
