What is CompTIA A+ Core 1?
The CompTIA A+ certification is an entry-level credential that covers a broad range of basic knowledge that all IT technicians need to know. The A+ certification validates candidates’ technological skills, from hardware and software repair to networking, security, and mobile devices. It is vendor-neutral and is typically one of the first certifications IT professionals obtain.
Earning the CompTIA A+ certification requires individuals to take and pass two exams, Core 1 and Core 2. The Core 1 exam, 220-1001, covers topics mainly about hardware, while the Core 2 exam, 220-1002, covers software. As with all certification exams, it’s important for candidates to be well-prepared when they take the official A+ exams. A major part of being prepared is taking practice tests that allow learners to identify any topics or areas where they need additional study. This ensures that they know what to expect and are ready to take the real exam.
How Hard is the CompTIA A+ Core 1 Practice Test?
Most candidates who are preparing for the CompTIA A+ Core 1 certification exam want to know how hard the test will be. The truth is – that’s hard to say. The level of difficulty depends on the individual’s level of knowledge, amount of experience, and how prepared he or she is. Those candidates who are well-prepared might find this beginner-level exam fairly simple, while those who have not taken the time and effort to study and practice may find it challenging.
The A+ Core 1 exam covers the following topics:
- Hardware and Network Troubleshooting
- Mobile Devices
- Virtualization and Cloud Computing
There are 90 questions on the 220-1001 exam, which must be completed within an hour and a half. Questions are multiple-choice, drag and drop, and performance-based. The performance-based questions are usually the most difficult for candidates. They test the individual’s ability to solve problems in simulated environments. The passing score for the CompTIA A+ Core 1 exam is 675 on a scale of 100-900.
