- Piecemeal restore of database under simple recovery model
- Piecemeal restore of some file groups under simple recovery model
- Piecemeal restore of database under full recovery model
- Piecemeal restore of some file groups under full recovery model
Exercise 1 - Working with Piecemeal Restore of Database
The piecemeal restore process of restoring the SQL Server database takes place in stages. The process starts with the restoration of primary filegroups followed by secondary filegroups and the log files. You can perform the piecemeal restore of the database and filegroups under full and simple recovery models.
In simple recovery model, you need not take the transaction log backups. In full recovery model, transaction log backups are necessary.
In this exercise, you will learn to work with piecemeal restore of database under full and simple recovery models.
Exercise 2 - Working with Piecemeal Restore of File Groups
You can take the backup of files and filegroups in SQL Server using SQL Server Management Studio or Transact-SQL. You can perform the backup of primary and secondary filegroups and then restore them.
In this exercise, you will learn to work with piecemeal restore of primary and secondary file groups under simple and full recovery models using Transact-SQL.
