In this module, you will complete the following exercises:
- Exercise 1. Install Local Applications
- Exercise 2. Install Applications Unattended Using a Network
- Exercise 3. Working with Cloud Hosted Apps
- Exercise 4. Implement a Basic Application Architecture Model
After completing this lab, you will be able to:
- Download and install OpenOffice
- Create .DOC and .ODT document files
- Download 7-Zip and create shared a folder
- Deploy an application with Group Policy Software Installation
- Verify application deployment
- Sign-in to Office Online
- Create and edit a document in Word Online
- View saved files in OneDrive
- Install Web Server security and enable authentication
- Connect to an internal website with Digest authentication enabled.

- 3.4 Explain methods of application architecture and delivery models.
Lab Duration
It will take approximately 45 minutes to complete this lab.
Exercise 1 - Install Local Applications
In this exercise, you will install OpenOffice. OpenOffice is a suite of office programs made by the open source community that rivals the commercial Microsoft Office application. OpenOffice is composed of Write, Calc, Impress and Base applications. Install Web Server security and enable authentication. You will use Write - a word processor in a later exercise and learn some of its basic features.

After completing this exercise, you will be able to:
- Download and install OpenOffice
- Create .DOC and .ODT document files
Exercise 2 - Install Applications Unattended Using a Network
This exercise will illustrate how to deploy 7-Zip, a file archiving utility, using GPSI. Upon deployment, you will verify that 7-Zip is successfully installed and working on a Windows desktop.

After completing this exercise, you will be able to:
- Download 7-Zip and create shared a folder
- Deploy an application with Group Policy Software Installation
- Verify application deployment
Exercise 3 - Working with Cloud Hosted Apps
To show the concept of cloud-hosted apps, this exercise will demonstrate how to use Office Online. In order to successfully complete this lab, you must first sign-up for an outlook.com account. You will use the outlook.com credentials to sign-in to Office Online and try some of the included apps.
Learning Outcomes
After completing this exercise, you will be able to:
- Sign-in to Office Online
- Create and edit a document in Word Online
- View saved files in OneDrive
Exercise 4 - Implement a Basic Application Architecture Model
In this exercise, you will install web services on a Windows member server, and configure it for user authentication by connecting to a domain controller (directory) server. You will use a Windows client to connect to the web server and verify the authentication with the directory server.

After completing this exercise, you will be able to:
- Install Web Server security and enable authentication
- Connect to an internal website with Digest authentication enabled
