A database is a collection of information organized in a way that a computer program can quickly select desired pieces of data using a special query language. Databases have become an integral part of storing massive amounts of information by organizations and end-users that there is a need to quickly access important data virtually from any device-like computers and mobile devices.
A database server refers to the back-end system that runs proprietary software and hosts multiple instances of a database normally used for business applications.
In this exercise, you will perform a basic installation of SQL Server 2008 that will create a database instance and attach a sample database that you can use with SQL Server.
