Overview

Introduction

The Dynamic Dimension Security in SSAS module provides you with the instructions and devices to develop hands on skills in the following topic:

  • Setting up of a role based dynamic dimension security in an Analysis Services cube

Exercise 1 - Set up Role Based Dynamic Dimension Security

SSAS allows you to create roles and assign Windows users, Windows groups or both as members of these roles. You can then assign the required security settings for the SSAS roles to dynamically filter data based on the user accessing the cube or running the report.

In this exercise, you will create an SSAS cube based on the AdventureWorksDW2012 database. You will then setup role-based security in the cube to dynamically filter the list of products based on the user accessing the cube.
