The Create Charts module provides you with the instructions and devices to develop your hands on skills. This module includes the following exercises:
- Create and Manage Charts
- Format Charts
- Working with Quick Analysis
Lab time: It will take approximately 1 hour to complete this lab.
Exercise 1 - Creating and Manage Charts
Charts are nothing more than a pictorial representation of your data. Sometimes, a picture really does say a thousand words or, more accurately, convey what a thousand numbers can't. Creating a simple chart requires little more than selecting data and clicking a button.
In this exercise you will create a simple line chart and learn how to understand the connection between a chart and its source data.
Exercise 2 - Format Charts
When you create a chart, Excel makes assumptions about how you want to see the data. Usually, Excel is right, but sometimes, you want to see lines that map to your columns instead of your rows, or vice versa. To change this, simply select the chart, and click Switch Row/Column (on the Chart Tools, Design tab).
In this exercise, you'll create a column chart, then change it to a stacked column chart, and finally switch rows and columns to see a column for each product, rather than one for each sales rep.
Exercise 3 - Working with Quick Analysis
Quick Analysis is a gallery of analysis options that you access through a tag next to a selected range. In this exercise you will use quick analysis options to apply conditional formats, create charts, and analyze data in a selected range.
