The Configure Distributed File System module provides you with the instruction and server hardware to develop your hands on skills in the defined topics. This module includes the following exercises:
- Install Distributed File System
- Create a folder for DFS Replication
- Verify DFS Replica
Exercise 1 - Install Distributed File System (DFS)
In this exercise, you will install and configure Distributed File System (DFS). DFS gives the administrator the capability to consolidate shared folders coming from different servers into a unified file system. Users will just connect to DFS namespace and the server will redirect the user to the server that owns the resource when changing from one folder to another.
Exercise 2 - Create a folder for DFS Replication
For this exercise, you will create two folders that will be used for DFS Replication. Replication of folders ensures fault tolerance and performance enhancements when folders are accessed by a large number of users.
Exercise 3 - Verify DFS Replica
When you have DFS replicas on the DFS infrastructure, you have to publish and share folders so that other users can connect to the replica and see the folders. In this step you will publish and share them.
