The Administering Network Infrastructure module provides you with the instruction and server hardware to develop your hands on skills in the defined topics. This module includes the following exercises:
- Configure Virtual Network Infrastructure
- Test Validity of Network Infrastructure Settings
Estimated time to complete this lab: 75 minutes.
Exercise 1 - Configure Virtual Network Infrastructure
System Center 2012 R2 Virtual Machine Manager simplifies the administration of the network infrastructure where virtual devices are connected. The network adapter on Virtual Machine Manager Server acts as the network switch where logical switches can be created that will control communication between virtual machines in a Hyper-V host. With network virtualization, you can deploy multiple virtual networks on the same physical network.
In this exercise, you will learn how to manage virtual network switches by using Virtual Machine Manager.
Exercise 2 - Test Validity of Network Infrastructure Settings
You have successfully set up the logical network that will be used by virtual machines hosted on the PLABHYPERV02 server. Then added the Hyper-V virtual machines to Virtual Machine Manager which will provide additional features when managing multiple virtualization servers in a corporate network.
In this exercise, you will associate the Hyper-V host to the created logical network where you can simplify IP address management by configuring IP address pools. You will then test a virtual machine if they inherit the network settings from the virtual network switch.
