Overview

What is the CAPM Certification Practice Exam?

The Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification is a credential tested for and awarded by the Project Management Institute (PMI). The CAPM was created to validate the skills of entry-level project managers. It paves the way for new project managers to advance along their career paths.

Like other IT certifications, the CAPM requires that candidates take and pass a certification exam to earn the credential. Cybrary’s CAPM practice test is a tool that is useful in preparing for the official exam.

Is the CAPM Exam Hard?

Candidates who have taken the exam agree that the CAPM test can be challenging, and those who plan to take it should be as prepared as possible to have a positive result. Therefore, studying for the official certification exam needs to include taking practice tests to ensure readiness.

To understand the difficulty of the CAPM certification exam, it’s important to be familiar with its format. The test consists of 150 questions, for which candidates have three hours to complete. The questions are multiple-choice. Included in the 150 questions are 15 pretest questions that are not counted in the final score. Rather, PMI uses them as a method to test future exam questions.

The CAPM exam problems are based on the Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK), 6th edition. CAPM exam topics include:

  • Introduction to Project Management
  • Project Environment
  • Role of Project Manager
  • Project Integration
  • Project Schedule
  • Project Scope
  • Project Quality
  • Project Cost
  • Project Resource
  • Project Risk
  • Project Communication
  • Project Procurement
  • Project Stakeholder

To be eligible to take the CAPM certification exam, candidates must have a secondary degree (high school diploma, associate degree, or equivalent) and at least 23 hours of project management training.

Why Take a CAPM Practice Test?

There are numerous benefits to using Cybrary’s CAPM practice test as part of exam preparation. In addition to determining how ready someone is for the certification exam, practice tests help with the following:

Getting familiar with the exam itself – Practice tests allow CAPM candidates to get to know the format of the official exam and the type of questions that are included, which helps them be better prepared when they view the official test for the first time.

Identifying strengths and weaknesses – The CAPM certification exam covers a significant amount of material, so it’s easy to miss some while studying or not study certain areas enough. Taking practice tests helps candidates recognize the topics they know well and the ones they need to study more.

Managing time on exam day – The official CAPM exam is timed, which means it’s important for candidates to know if they are prepared to get to all the questions within the allotted timeframe. Again, taking practice tests will help determine if they are managing their time effectively.

Alleviating anxiety on exam day – Many people are affected by test anxiety to some extent. Taking practice tests allows individuals to know what to expect when they take the real exam, which is helpful in reducing their anxiety. In addition, the more practice tests they have under their belts, the more comfortable they’ll feel when walking in on exam day.
