Anybody have experience with elearnsecurity.com and their PTP course? They released V4 today with some deals for 20% off and free upgrade to a higher version. Looking for some feedback as I'm thinking I might pick up the cost personally to advance my career and pad my resume a little more. https://www.elearnsecurity.com/course/penetration\_testing/ Anybody have experience with elearnsecurity.com and their PTP course? They released V4 today with some deals for 20% off and free upgrade to a higher version. Looking for some feedback as I'm thinking I might pick up the cost personally to advance my career and pad my resume a little more. https://www.elearnsecurity.com/course/penetration\_testing/ I took their PTP course back when it was the v2 and passed the exam to get the eCPPT. I'm currently enrolled in their Web Application Penetration Testing course. When I decided to start focusing on changing my career path to get into information security, I chose to take their PTP course first. I found that it gave me a good introduction to the penetration testing side of the industry. The material is broken down into topic categories and self paced. There are some videos throughout the course that help explain or demonstrate certain topics. I like that their material is HTML5 based rather than Flash (or you can download PDF copies if you have the appropriate course package). With the exception of some grammatical mistakes, I found the material to be easy to follow along and understand. Some extra studying/researching may be necessary on your part if you're wanting a deeper understanding of a given topic/concept. The labs that go along with the material are helpful, and they're dedicated to you (you're not sharing the labs with other students at the same time) and are scenario based, designed to teach one topic/technique per lab. Basically when you connect to a lab scenario you're spinning up an instance that's dedicated to you. I do like that the labs are access-time based. That is if you buy, say, 120 hours of lab time, the time is only deducted when you are connected to a lab scenario until you hit the overall expiration of the lab purchase. The course material is still available to you if your lab time expires. I felt it was a very good course that prepped me to wade into OffSec's PWK course when I went for my OSCP. That's not to say it made PWK a cake-walk... The forums that go along with the courses are a good resource, and I've found all of the admins to be helpful without holding your hand and showing you how to do something exactly. I've also found eLS to be very responsive to inquires, issues, etc. I enjoyed the exam for PTP, and liked the timeline given to complete it (7 days for the practical portion, 7 days for writing and submitting the report). I do wish that the eCPPT cert was recognized more in the industry, however I don't feel that has any negative reflection upon the material and what I learned. If you have any other questions that I can try to answer, please don't hesitate to ping me. I ordered the course. As a previous student, I was able to get the course for $700US for the highest version. I know it will be worth it. Now I just need to schedule time for some studying.
