The Network+ Certification Course course provides students with the knowledge and insight to perform network-related tasks. Each module addresses a particular area of expertise necessary to succeed in an environment in which an understanding of Networking is required. Module 1, “Networking Fundamentals,” begins with the basics by defining key terms technicians are expected to know and understand, as well as examining common protocols and their use. Topics include the OSI Reference Model, network topologies, cabling, wireless connectivity, network services, as well as cloud computing basics. In Module 2, Network Implementations, we examine network connectivity devices with a focus on switches, routers, and ethernet technologies. Module 3’s “Network Operations” explores performance tools and metrics to assess network capabilities. Further topics include organizational policies and documentation, and redundancy and continuity planning. Module 4, “Network Security,” Looks at hardening the various elements of the network: systems, services, applications, and hosts. Additionally, we address common risks associated with technologies such as wireless and remote access, as well as mitigation strategies. Module 5 wraps up the course with a look at “Network Troubleshooting, ” and begins by discussing COMPTIA’s 7-step troubleshooting process for networks. We then examine the hardware and software tools needed to troubleshoot today’s wired and wireless networks.
