In this course, you will be introduced to the purpose of a business impact analysis. You will learn about identifying business processes and dependencies, impact assessment and prioritization, as well as how to maintain and update the business impact analysis.

Course Content
Upon completing this course, you should be able to:
- Define the purpose of a Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and explain how it strengthens cybersecurity risk management decisions
- Identify critical business functions and categorize business impact across financial, operational, and reputational dimensions
- Differentiate MTD, RTO, and RPO and apply them to set realistic recovery objectives for key processes and services
- Map end-to-end business processes and dependencies, including people, data, technology, and third-party reliance
- Assess and prioritize business impacts using standardized scales, evidence-based documentation, and time-based modeling
- Translate BIA results into resilience planning by aligning recovery priorities, disaster recovery requirements, and control selection to business importance
- Maintain and evolve BIAs through refresh triggers, cross-functional engagement, audit-ready evidence, and emerging AI-assisted continuous updates
