The Journey:

Healthcare. Far outside the realm of the typical background of a cyber security professional. When I first started looking, I quickly became discouraged by the lofty requirements needed to get a job in cyber. But I was so interested in the field and wanted to begin exploring what options were available.

Did I have a degree in Computer Science? No.

Did I have 3-5 Years of Experience? No.

Did I have Certifications? No.

As most do, I hit the web and began searching for answers and stumbled upon Cybrary through a series of mentions in a Reddit discussion. I created a Cybrary account and began poking around some of the free video courses but, I soon fell off.

The 'Ah-ha' Moment:

Months later, I was cleaning out my inbox and came across an email for the New SOC Analyst Career Path program on Cybrary. I checked out it and was so excited to see a program aimed at giving me everything I needed to prep for the job I wanted. Could this be what I was looking for to help me achieve my goals?

It was the confidence from signing up for Cybrary's program and interacting with others in the Slack community that ultimately encouraged me to apply. I was using Cybrary's amazing free video courses, but all of the knowledge, skills, and abilities gained through the program was essential to me impressing the employer during the interview.

A week or so later, I got an email with a job offer to start my new career as a cyber security professional. I almost cried, I was so happy. Thank you so much, Cybrary!
