Upon completing this lab, you should be able to:

  • Define "file system" and describe its purpose.
  • List the most common file system(s) used by major operating systems.
  • Access a storage volume using common forensics utilities and identify the file system in use.
  • Leverage common forensics utilities to review file system structures and data elements and answer questions about the file system itself, as well as individual files.
