  • Define Protected Health Information (PHI) and its significance under HIPAA
  • Describe the scope and applicability of HIPAA, including covered entities and business associates
  • Identify and explain patient rights under the Privacy Rule (access, amendment, disclosure limitations)
  • Differentiate required safeguards under the Security Rule (administrative, technical, physical)
  • Summarize HIPAA’s breach notification requirements and coordination with HHS and state regulators
  • Identify best practices for HIPAA compliance, including documentation, risk assessments, and training
