Video Transcript

Hi, everyone. In the previous video, we went over on creating a safe environment for your investigations. And in this lesson we will learn where to document euros and findings how to use a great Web capture tool. And you also will learn about different Web extensions and adults that will make your old sent investigations easier. Notes are often a very tricky part or to better, say, a potential trap for all your woes and investigations. I have one question for you now. How many times you went looking at one video on YouTube and after a Now er, you ended up on a completely different topic and you cannot even remember how you got there.

The same thing could happen with any of your own send investigations. Everything looks great when you start, but only after a few sources, which could all look similar. You could get lost and unable to retrace your steps. Personally, I like using paper and a pencil, but to be honest, that is not efficient or optimal. When I do my research on the Internet, you could also make notes by writing them down in a plain text editor like Microsoft's note pad apples text edit. But I would recommend at least a Microsoft's one note like software, which had some additional features, like a note higher air, he and pasting links with an active overview of them. Also, if you are a fan off Excel spreadsheets, I highly recommend it, since there is a lot of browsing and Web surfing involved. Ah, good way to save your browsing History, which could get pretty big in just a matter of minutes, is using a software that records your Web browsing activity.

One of those tools is called Hunch Lee. It is spelled H u N c h dot L Y. This tool is not free, but the rabbit hole in which you could possibly go down won't be that deep if you use it. And I would like to show you a quick overview off this tool. Let me show you for a moment how it looks like high. Here we are on our Lennox virtual machine. To get Huntley, the first thing you need to do is register for free trial and you will get a license file that will be needed to upload to the Hunt lab at the present moment. the trial is 30 days. Download and install the 100 software also installed the extension on your browser. We're going to use chrome. You have the extension at the Google's official Web store, so there is no funny business. We did all that, and now we're going straight to the recording off our Web activity.

As you can see on the browser, there's a little extension Aiken extension where you can start to record your activity selected and then select the dashboard button, which will fire up the hunch lee App to which all the activity is being transferred and processed so you can manage it later on. Now in the APP dashboard, we're going to make a new case. I'll call it cyber ary like save. And when I get back to our extension on the Web Browser 100 Extension, we can choose the case to which it will be recorded. The cyber re case, which we previously made in the Huntly app. I will put the capture switch on and start our invested first investigation. My plan is to go to the cyberia dot i t website. Look around a little bit type O sent in the search box on the top and wait for the search results. And then I'm gonna make a note off something interesting on the page that I found. I'll make a right click.

I have the hunch. Lee Huntley option. Click on Take note. I'll write. I like this page. Click, save and finish our investigation by Sweet Killing the switch, the capture switch. Go back to our dashboard off the Huntley app and here you can see on our case. I bury. We have pages viewed three notes taken one as you can see as you can see the Web history and the note part with the exact u R l off the page. We were wrong. I have to say that this was just a basic overview of this tool. Andi, I have to say, if you you're gonna use eventually you will probably never gonna have to remember to take a screenshot, cut and paste some u R l or save a document. Since it will be all nicely structured and recorded in one AP, I think that is indirectly connected to a Web activity recorder is a website copier. I prefer tool called HD track.

HD track allows you to down with the World Wide Web site from the Internet to a local directory, your local computer building recursive lee. All directories getting HTML images and other files from the server to your computer. HD Track arranges the original sites the relative link structure. You will simply open up your website locally and surfeit just like on the Internet. 80 Track is fully configurable and has an integrated help system, so I really recommend it's use. And I would recommend for you to check out the track laps on the on side berry, where you will get a more detailed look into to the most of our note taking will come from doing Internet browsing, so why not having additional help with that? I would mention a couple of great extensions, which are available for Mozilla Firefox and Google Trump. One of those extensions is the way back machine, which will enable you to explore the older versions off any Web page.

And it's great to reveal additional information, which has Bean may be taken down after a new law or Regula tive like GDP are. Then you should check the add on for extracting eggs if data from pictures. That data can be crucial for your investigations, since it could include information like what camera was used, where the picture was taken, date and time and so on. Also, websites change over time. And while extensions like the way back machine which we previously mentioned, sometimes you will need a screenshot or even better, a video recording off the website you were visiting so you can check the tool Nimbus. After we went through the notes taking part in the next video, I would like to discuss password managers, their features and usage, so see you there.
