    A privacy program is a set of standards used to define, maintain, and implement policies and procedures that allow for effective information privacy practices to minimize risk and ensure confidentiality of important data.     The Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) certification is a credential that is awarded by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) to candidates who successfully pass the certification exam. The CIPP certification validates an individual’s knowledge of privacy regulations and laws and how to apply them.

    The CIPM certification is offered in different versions to provide localized content. The five versions are specific to Asia, Canada, Europe, U.S. Government, and U.S. Private Sector.

    As Vice President of Advocacy for Vital Records Control, Andrew is tasked with mentoring, educating, volunteering, and advocating for all matters related to information governance (IG). Andrew is also the President of IG GURU®, an IG news organization and a resume expert with Admovio®, where his work is published on CIO.com.

    Andrew is a contributor to ARMA's IGBOK, a contributor to Wiley's Information Governance 2nd Edition, a former Regent for the ICRM, a faculty member at San Jose State University, and a former adjunct professor at Davenport University.

    Andrew has hands-on and leadership experience in security and privacy matters. Throughout his career, Andrew earned a CompTIA Security+ in 2005 and a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) in 2017. He earned the Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) designation in 2008, a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) in 2016 and became a fellow of the IAPP in 2017. Andrew has a Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University, a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, and a certificate in data analytics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

    Andrew’s interest in cyber security began in the mid-1990’s when he started in technology. He read countless books on security and networked with privacy professionals in the early 2000’s to sharpen his skills. Traditional skills of analyzing firewall logs, hardening systems, testing, and spiked his interest to become certified in the mid-2000’s. Andrew lead a team in his career of security professionals for an information management company, and now mentor’s IT executives and helps them create dynamic resumes.
