I don’t know about you, but sometimes it’s super hard to keep up with all the different terminologies in the cybersecurity world. There’s just too many acronyms to remember! Luckily, I have my go-to ‘Thycotic Interactive Dictionary’ that I can refer to if I don’t recognize or understand a specific cyber term. You might be thinking, "oh, I can just 'Google' that term," but you when you search for an acronym you'll get several results, many of which may have nothing to do with what you actually need. That's why a specific dictionary is vital to proper, contextual understanding.

At the end of the day, all of these terms have one commonality – they all relate to software systems an organization uses to manage and secure sensitive digital data. In simple words, these terminologies each surround safeguarding data by protecting who has access and certain privileges to and on what systems.

However, this is where it gets a little bit confusing and that ‘grey’ area starts to appear. All the different terminologies surround the same topic and share similar meanings, and unfortunately as a result, that mainstream cyber security jargon just keeps on adding to the turmoil. So, just remember! No matter how well you understand those tricky acronyms, others might not. This is why it’s always good to have this dictionary handy, even if it’s to explain an acronym to another person, perhaps!
