Partitions of Active Directory

There are four partitions in an active directory:

1. SCHEMA PARTITIONIt is the place where domain controller stores the information’s of objects and their attributes by the help of schema master role.
2. DOMAIN PARTITIONIt is the place of active directory database where the information’s of domains will be stored with the help of domain naming master role.
3. APPLICATION PARTITIONIt stores the application which is installed by the domain controller.As DNS, DHCP, FTP, etc.
4. CONFIGURATION PARTITIONIt stores the configurations of applications which are installed at the domain controller.
