Think specific functions of Word 2003 being enabled and/or recognized by Word 365, or what would happen to a document formatted in Word XP (2002) opened today in Word 2013 if Compatibility Mode was not possible.  Think the reluctance of anyone to upgrade their computing systems were it not possible to transfer files to a new computing environment or what happens when that transfer is performed but those files are not recognized or accessible in the new computing environment!  Sounds like World War III…
